Soon after, Danelle finally began to come back. Once that happened, she realized that all they had were each other. It was then that she decided to stop Tracking and help her sister regain her former self.
Danelle met Nic six months later. Gemma tried to be happy for her. Actually, Gemma had met early. He was the officer at the scene of their parents’ death. After hearing about Danelle’s attack, he was part of the team trying to find the assailant to no avail.
Nic had always felt bad, telling them that he feels like he let them down twice. After hearing about Danelle having to go into a hospital, he felt like there had to be another he could help the public. He became a volunteer to a half-way house.
Nic had run literally into Danelle one day as she was getting in a morning jog. They struck up a conversation. Dating came very quickly between them. Even Gemma was surprised at that. She never thought she would be close to anyone else besides her. Danelle always leaned on her big sister. Now she had Nic. Danelle would just say that he understood her pain and anger. He was just what she needed.
“He understands my pain, Gemma,” Danelle told her that more than once. It still didn’t make it any
