Personal Narrative: The Way I Work

Decent Essays
I believe I work well as part of our team at Nicholson House, I am aware of and fulfil my own duties but where possible I try and support my colleagues. We carry walkie-talkies with us so we can contact each other around the building, if I have a cancelled visit or some free time I’ll ask if there is anything I can do for my colleagues if they are pushed for time and they need me to do a visit, or they need support with something. Where possible I try to pick up and cover extra shifts, I can also be flexible when it comes to my shifts, I am aware that sometimes people have little notice about not being able to do their shift so where possible I am always willing to swap. I have full confidence that where I believe I am a strong team player

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals. Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.…

Iclesias Phanord Breaking the Norm I’m surrounded by bouncing basketball and expectations. I had not yet found my vocation. However, many people around me had; whether it was basketball, cheerleading, or track - they had found a purpose that drove them. I am someone who smiles Someone always telling jokes to make sure no one thinks something is wrong So no one suspects a thing when they see my smile I am someone who fixes the feelings of those whose hearts are shattering like pieces of glass I am someone who loves to dress up and wear makeup so no one sees how truly I am From the bags from staying up at night to the red from crying, both under the concealer Tears behind my eyeshadow-covered eyelids Cracks underneath my red lipstick And the pain within the mouth that contains whitened teeth…

My first though on this assignment was “ Who writes anymore? With all of the technology we have no one writes anymore,” I was wrong. I frequently find myself writing at work, at Intermountain Medical Center as a Patient Care Tech and as a Health Unit Coordinator. Often I am writing for myself, writing to my coworkers, other departments in the hospital and writing for as well as to my boss. Recently I noticed the longer I have been working at this job the more comfortable I am writing to my colleagues and my boss.…

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…

Thanks Yeni for the question and a pretty interesting one at that. So when looking at my GPA, I never looked at myself as the smartest kid or the least educated. Throughout school I mainly got A-C's occasionally honor roll, but never anything more. That was until fall 2017 of college when I finally got Straight A's for the first time. All though I never thought about how someones GPA could affect how they work, until now.…

The book has an interesting approach at defining what identity is. I really appreciated how the book opened my eyes to how identity can be seen. For example we dont just have an identity, because we actually do one. As the book put its “its not just having a symbolic sense of it, but doing it in the presence of people and doing it well in there eyes”. Although, their is still much more to defining what identity is I will do my best to define exactly what is.…
