Personal Narrative: The Way I Learn

Decent Essays
I learn the best when I am actually interested in the subject and when there is nothing distracting me paying close attention to what I need to know. I dont really learn by writing things down because I dont study so I dont look back at things I have written. Listening to hear is actually one of the ways I learn best because I do not like reading things I prefer listening to them for a better visualization. Visualizing things also helps a lot because sometimes picturing things in your head its easier to learn as well in my opinion. In class I work in the middle because its never fast or too slow when I work fast its because I feel the urge to finish as fast as possible and when I work slow its because I am not in the mood or I dont understand the work. Yes I like to work with other people because when you dont understand somethings they can help you out also helping others is good too because it makes you feel kind of smart by explaining the work to someone who does not understand it. What interferes with my learning is when everyone is talking and the teacher has to stop and tell them to not talk it just wastes my time. I speak Spanish fluently because I have known how to speak it since I was little and I talk to my mom in Spanish also English at times. …show more content…
what makes me proud of my culture is how everyone gets together on special occasions because we get to be with our family members that we do not see as much only like once a year so its great to see them talk about life and how it is

I was 10 years old. I looked from the edge of the mat, unaware about the endeavor I was about to take the moment my foot touched that mat. I finally decided to walk on, like they had taught me by bowing, it was the first of a near million times I was going to do this. I was a white belt, at the best taekwondo centers in the area. All the kids, stood to the side eerily silent, waiting for instructions.…

I was born in 1984 and started school in 1989. Watching the movie The Bottom Line in Education 1980 to the Present, gave me a perspective of the Education system while I was growing up. I didn’t realize what my teachers and educators were subjected to. As a child I was very naive, which is what I was supposed to be. I never thought that my school was overcrowded or operating below any standards.…

I do not plan on transferring as most of my friends have, but I will to push myself to be proud of my decision I have made to stay at BC. I have gained, experience, knowledge, lost, and understand most things that I have been exposed to in my twenty years of life. One goal I have is pass the GKE (General Knowledge Exam). The first step would be to fully understand what the GKE is and what kind of tests I need to do to pass this exam. The second step would be to study as much as possible to ensure a passing score.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

What I learned about myself is that I have potential for being a global manager. Looking over the questions, I tend to lack in my experiences more than my actual skills. What I’ve learned is that I can adapt quick and connect with people easily, but I don’t have many experiences in it. To widen my range of experiences I would most likely have to travel more and emerge myself directly into new cultures. I would also have to study different languages a bit more for that is an area I very much lack in.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

My path to literacy began when I was old enough for my mother, father, and older sisters to read to me. I began listening to books before I could speak, and I believe my exposure to books influenced my speech development because it expanded my vocabulary. Throughout elementary school, not only did I read often, but I also played various computer games that helped form my technological literacy; socialized with my family’s friends, which supported my social literacy; and spent much of my time at church, where I developed my spiritual literacy. As I entered middle school, I began as a homeschooled student. However, I transitioned to a private school in eighth grade and then to a public high school in ninth grade.…

I walked into my school with confidence on the first day of my junior year. I walked down to my advisory with a big, bright smile on my face grinning from ear to ear that this school year would be an excellent year. When my advisor, Ms. Taverna gave me my schedule, I noticed I had two teachers in two of my classes (AP literature and algebra two) instead of one. That's when I realized that I was still under the 504 plan that was placed on to me in middle school. A 504 plan is similar to an I.E.P. (an Individualized Education Program), but a 504 plan is accommodations that help the individual student successes in the classrooms.…

One of the important things that I learned about my learning style in this week is the visual learner. The visual learner learns so fast when he sees the picture or something that he wants to know. He likes to read the task more than twice before doing it. He likes to work from lists and written directions and instructions. It is someone who reads a lot to find out the truth.…

If one takes the time to understand and comprehend the culture and language from various people, one can comprehend that there is a larger world outside of one’s country, a world larger than could ever be imagined. Learning a new language could even be compared to having the ability to teleport, in the aspect that having a new language under one’s (figurative) belt facilitates the ability to travel. Another magnificent opportunity that comes from being bilingual is the ability to meet all kinds of new and interesting people. One can learn from these new people, and begin to understand things that one has never personally or directly experienced before. And who knows, interacting with a new person could influence the appreciation and practice of a new and exciting hobby, this interaction can bring about some new ideas, tastes, books, and whatever else contributes to make the life more valuable and meaningful.…
