Personal Narrative: The Warrior Archetype

“I was definitely the best-qualified candidate. I am going to convince them to hire me”. This is how Warrior might say about going for a job interview but not getting the job. For the Warrior archetype, its main goal is to set and achieve goals to prove it’s worthy. In today’s world, school and work are places we prove ourselves worthy, as we need to make our way into a society. This causes us to get lost in our desires and achieving goals become more aggressive. While observing the Warrior archetype, I learned to recognize the difference between a “tempter” and a “guide”, expect to be treated well, and avoid traumatizing situations or recover from them after they occur. Warrior helps us to know what to do when we face challenges and how to avoid negative influence going in our minds. Based on Dr. Carol’s studies, one of the basics of the Warrior is internal discipline. As a Warrior, you take control of your live and do not let negative desires to corrupt you. Hero faces a lot of challenges in his or her adventure, but never gives up. People who face serious failures in their lives might respond to it by using drugs and alcohol, losing faith in a good life. Besides that, people forget what is their real need in their lives. This archetype helps us to use the difficulties we face for our own use to grow. Several years ago, my uncle lost his job and went though a big divorce. When I talked to him, I could see how broken he felt. After two years, I found out that he found a new job in a big company and was already engaged at that time. I can see my uncle as a Warrior, because he was able to take control of the situation and committed himself to get back to the normal life. And his diligence to his goal gave power to overcome the obstacle he faced. Thus, Warrior helps us to go over the failures and use it to develop
