Personal Narrative: The War Room

I am so glad I had the priveledge to see the movie, War Room, with my Life Group. I have to admit, since applying Miss Clara's war room, my quality of prayer has greatly improve. I not only know who and what I am praying for, but I actual have strategic pray life that makes sense; that I can follow and easily adjust as God directs me because I can see Him in my plans more clearer. My target prayers go up on my bedroom wall. And I immediately receive scriptures from the Holy Spirit to use in my prayers. Later, in God's timing, I receive real solutions - answers to my prayer.

So it started out as a normal school day and as we were coming back from lunch we all went to the restroom and only six of us got taken. As we were using the restroom Andrew Myers, Jahzara Mckinney, Kadance Gravely, Maddox Lyons, Hayden Elliott, Kaylie Hawks and myself were pulled into the sewers and through a pipe that somehow took us to a island. We were stranded there by ourselves the island was like a forest in a way it has tall redwood trees high grass like the jungle and a beautiful glossering pond. So as we were there we were all panicking then I just got really quiet. We went to bed and the next morning Hayden and Jahzara were fighting over food we had from killing Andrew we had a lot of food left over from yesterday but both Jahzara and Hayden wanted that same piece.…

Ernest Holmes often stated: “We treat, and we move our feet.” That saying summed up his doctrine that prayer must motivate us to action, in accordance with the realization achieved in that prayer; otherwise, our disappointments in life result from not keeping our appointment with Life. In order for the realization of a greater good to be achieved it must be expressed, not just impressed upon our mind in the hope that something better will be done for us or given to…

The Devon School was once full of life and everyone was happy that is, until I came. The boys really thought they knew who I was but they were completely wrong. This all began at the Devon school I met Gene, Finny, Leper, Brinker, and the other students. At first when I met Gene I was suspicious of him because I felt he was not trustworthy and was conservative. However, I noticed that Finny trusted everyone, including Gene, which he was humble and did not brag about how athletic or cool he was.…

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

In a time of war, I felt very limited, trapped in my situation, I had to do something. Looking back now many things contributed to that decision. My grandmother, Bathsheba, used to come visit my home in Plymouth, when I lived with my mother. She would tell me about a woman named Joan of Arc, a woman that led the french to victory over the british. My grandmother also made me aware of how that woman died, by being burned at the stake for not listening to the rules of the church.…
