Personal Narrative-The Walking Dead

Decent Essays
I killed my best friend third period, I killed my favorite teacher fourth, by fifth period I was not sure if I was dead too. The night before everything ended I stayed up watching “The Walking Dead.” What a coincidence, I wish Rick Grimes would attend my school. I’ve seen too many zombie movies so I know what to do. The bad thing is that I didn’t possess any guns, my best friend would now be a broken broom. I guess living in Texas is not so bad in a zombie apocalypse, a lot of guns, right? That would be a problem for another time. I had to run somewhere safe. There is not easy access to high points like a roof in the school. The cafeteria? Its underground, not a good idea. The second floor of the STEM building might work, there’s no classes

The Zombie Apocalypse is an event I feel I've been prepped for my entire life. Assuming typical scary movie rules apply: in order to survive I must find a rag tag group of people who are sane as well as very skill at using weapons. To help prevent being that that cliché person that trips, my team and I would raid a shoe store for well fitting, non slip shoes. Next we would wear various layers of coats just in case if we were caught, zombies would struggle to get to our flesh and we would have time escape from their grasp. Next we would travel north and go to a region that was not very populated prior to the apocalypse.…

When I first heard that we were going to be doing another speech I honestly was not happy about it at all because like many of you I was ready for school to be done for the summer. I began to think about it though and instantly I had three books that popped into my head and I thought that this assignment was not going to be hard. The three books that came to mind was: Coming Back Stronger: Unleashing the Hidden Power of Adversity written by Drew Brees, Friday Night Lights written by Buzz Bissinger, and the last one was Through My Eyes: A Quarterback’s Journey written by Tim Tebow.…

We had been attempting it for months. We never thought that we would get far at all. The only thing that I knew was that it was going to be tough, tougher than finding a string of hay in a stack of needles. I had the entire match set up. Every player was ready, I made sure all our internet signals were wired in correctly and would not disconnect.…

Zombie Apocalypse Around 10 a.m. I woke up, stretched and brushed my teeth. I turned on my television, like my daily routine. Well, today was different. Every channel displayed, “Breaking News: ‘Evacuate your homes now and get to a safe location, a zombie apocalypse has started and is coming to an area near you’”.…

What television show character are you most like and why? One Tree Hill was a show that I refused to watch. I knew mom’s that were obsessed with this teen show, and that was just not something I wanted to be a part of. So when finals came around last year, I decided it was time to watch One Tree Hill.…

Zombie apocolypse or not my mom would still make me go to school. I’ve never played on a team but I crave the thrill of swinging a baseball bat, launching heads out of the park would make it a whole new ball game. If I’m going to hide anywhere it would have to be the P.E. building, considering that’s where everyone else hides when school gets too “classy” for them. The bleachers are setup in the gym for when we have pep ralley’s, with enough spit and grease they can be pushed back to block the enterances. When I’m trapped in a school with locked doors all around me the keys to survival are actual keys, so in this situation a master key is a top priority item.…

I looked around the room and thought that if this was real I don’t know what I would do. Everyone who was in the room, besides a couple others and I, had gotten on the floor making sure they were out of sight from the one window and the door. Some hid behind the desk in the back and others hid next to the bathroom door. I think on the inside we were all freaking out because this has only ever happened as a drill and not for real. But a few of them were determined to not show it and try and keep a brave face on for everyone.…

The Hunted I didn’t know who I was. I woke up next to a bunch of muddy kids. They all smelled like they haven't showered in weeks. There was two twins, a chubby kid, and probably the skinniest kid I’ve ever seen. Then I realized I smelled just like them.…

I’ve been listening to a lot of Jon & Deek in the morning, and in the mid-afternoon, and early evening. Those two (or one?) have me flipping through channels, seeing if I can remember what station NPR or The Keg is on. All I could remember about a station was “the Eagle is classic rock,” and I spent many minutes at red lights flipping through the country music stations trying to be reunited with my old customary station, only to find myself listening to Will Ferrell screech “SAANNTTAA!” on 94.9’s Christmas ad. Nothing was more brutal, and yet familiar than this. There’s no aux cord in my 2002 Honda, and it spits out cd’s when I put them in, and I can’t make myself realize that I’m not motivated enough to actually listen to NPR on a morning drive, so I resist looking up the tune-in number.…

Buffy's vision blurred, damp hair covered part of her face, sticking with wet. She blinked her vision clearer for a minute, not quite ready to pull herself out of the puddle, not quite sure if she could. Face sideways in the water, cold and probably dying, flashes of how ran through her mind almost in slow motion, but almost in hyperspeed. The last weeks of sparring and battle-prep and the impending death march running like blood through her ears. Coming down here, determined, to end it.…

“You can start whenever you’re ready” The boy looked down at his pale, shaking hands, then up at the ceiling. Anywhere except for the man with the clipboard in front of him. He took that to mean no more blinding lights being shown in his face, no more fake smiles, no more lies. “My mom made me some sandwiches.…

A few years ago I remember walking home from school. Mind you I thought I was very handsome back in those days, I had soft, dark brown hair, I went to the gym every day, I was fit and healthy, personally I thought I was a ladies man and I still am (I think). Anyways, I was almost home…

Could you ever imagine waking up one day and everything was different? Not being able to be sprawled out in your perfectly good bed each morning, but waking up in various locations for protection. Having to carry some sort of weapon every time you go outside just in case you run into a pack of zombies looking for fresh flesh. This all seemed too much and it was only my first year at Missouri State. A zombie apocalypse was not something I expected from college, especially to be one of the few survivors’ left on campus.…

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is a commonly used quote. I can honestly say I didn’t hear it from an upbeat pop song at first. But from someone more important in life, my father. When I was younger I thought the tiny scars and disgusting bruises was something hard to overcome. What I “overcame” was nothing compared to what would happen in January of 2008.…
