We are stereotype as lazy people, dangerous, problematic, etc. Also, the immigration policies seem Mexicans immigrants as the largest ethnic group immigrating to the country. Unfortunately, we don’t have the same fate of other countries to enter ease to the United States. For example, Salvadorians are beneficiated with the TPS, which is a permit to reside legally in the country. However, we as Mexicans need to get visas which are typically difficult to obtain since they are mostly given to middle-class people. We are taught by generations that having big families is good as it helps you to have more family decency. In addition, most Mexicans are patriarchal, which is a social system in which males hold primary power. In particular, males predominate in roles of political leadership and social privileges among others activities in society. In the families of my ethnic group the father hold authority over women and children. For example, my father is the one who brings the money to the house while my mother stays home taking care of the chores and is responsible for educating my brothers and I. My father is the one who gives the authorization for certain permissions such as going out with friends or having a boyfriend. The strengths that can be traced to my ethnic background are the family unity. I loved my family and I consider it the most important value in life. Also, I consider that we are fighters and we obtain with sacrifices what we propose in life. Another strength is that I am very friendly like most Mexicans.
