Personal Narrative: The Victims Of Domestic Violence

If I were to contemplate the room I’m in today, if I were to spectate the forty-nine or so people surrounding me I could count off the number of young adults who have been exposed to domestic violence. If I was to ask every kid in this room if they know of a case, any case of domestic violence an innumerable amount of my peers could single out at least one. According to statistics one in three women, and one in four men are victims of domestic violence (Young). This meaning over twenty- five percent of my class has been a victim of this frenzy; statistically speaking. As I gaze around my class and spectate each of their faces it upsets me at the thought of any of these people being victimized ; whether it's mentally or physically. No person, …show more content…
and six P.M.(“11 Facts About Domestic and Dating Violence”) , during this time I follow my every day life, I wake up at six A.M., get ready, and depart for school. I come home, and eat dinner at six P.M., in this time I probably flirt, laugh, smile, get annoyed, and stressed, in the twelve hours I live my normal fifteen year old girl life 4800 people are getting their lives changes or possibly ended. These are people, children, spouses who have to live in fear over being hurt. These abused souls have fear where there should be joy, they have anger and pain when they should feel free and at ease. Not only do they have to deal with this mass of feelings but the cost is dire and even more aggravating. 37 billion dollars (“11 Facts About Domestic and Dating Violence”), that's the cost of being violated, that's the cost of getting a lawyer, the court case, the possible hospital excursion. It’s rating by class, by political standing. Not even thirteen percent of the world, of the 7.5 billion people have 37 billion dollars laying around (Lahby) . And for the thirteen percent of people who can actually furnish that much money are too panic- stricken to say anything they fear the social embarrassment.
