Personal Narrative: The Value Of A Basketball Team

When I was 13 I went out for basketball. Or as I would like to say, my mother made me go out for basketball. For a month I attend and, make an appearance in the gym at 5:15. We would play as long and as hard as we could, until (coach) got tired. This of course was elementary, when we didn’t have an actual basketball team through the school. Then we got to playing… we seemed to be a “team.” We won lot of games together we played good, everyone got along, at least that’s what I thought. I don’t quite know what I did or why it happened but, after a year of playing together a group of girls that I hung out with slowly stopped talking to me. One day I heard them talking bad about me, I thought maybe it will just blow over. Then came a few more weeks and I found myself hanging out with a different group of girls but, I raced to the locker room to change just before I walk in I heard some of the girls saying” Whoever can go the longest without talking to Bri wins, and the loser has to give everyone $20!” I Though that all this would blow of in a couple weeks but, the gossiping about me didn’t seem to go away like I had thought .I found myself paying more attention to them talking about me then I did about playing basketball. I learned listening to the bad things that people may say about me didn’t bother me so much anymore, myself confidence is now through the roof. I just couldn’t stop thinking about basketball, once basketball season came around I had to join. It definitely wasn’t essay but, all the things that my mom told, and being in cross-country helped me to be a better person and a better player too. If it wasn’t for my mom and, joining cross-country then I would be the person I am now. It wasn’t essay getting there but, it was certainly worth listening and applying to my situations. Next time if someone having a similar problem I’ll know just know what to

People coming from a different planet would think every day things we do in life are weird. What we have adapted to and think are normal look very weird to others who haven’t seen people doing things like this. Such as someone who has never shaved before would think that is very odd to shave your beard. Or someone who has never seen a drive threw would think it’s weird to have people have food handed out the window. As we think other cultures are weird we have to look at the fact that our culture is weird to others People that have never seen basketball would thing it is a bunch of people running around with a ball.…

I walked into Neil Armstrong Middle School's gym, nervous as can be, not ready for basketball tryouts. The only reason I was there was because my dad and sister wanted me to play. I also wanted to play a sport this year, but I didn't think it would be basketball. It was so loud it sounded like someone was yelling in my ear and playing music at the same time. We started doing lay-up drills, I missed so many compared to the other girls.…

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

At first I thought they were just trying to offend me, but now I know that they were just trying to get in my head. Even if you are mean to someone on the court, that doesn’t mean you can’t be friends off the court. I meet most of my friends playing basketball, because they usually like everything I do. Basketball is getting harder to play because now that I’m in college I have a lot more responsibilities, but whenever I get to stressed out I know I can just go down to the basketball court and have fun. Even if I can’t go to the basketball courts, I can usually at least watch it on the…
