Personal Narrative: The Transtheoretical Model

Decent Essays
This week I had trouble keeping up with my behavior change for many different reasons. I believe one reason is related to the transtheoretical model. My mind set is still stuck in the preparation stage and I need to push myself past that to take action in the next stage. I know I want to get more sleep but there is many factors that push me to stay awake and sacrifice sleep still; for example, hanging out with friends at night. My benefits are still there with the cons but I’m seeing the cons as well. For example, I’m exhausted during the day and do not feel my best. I want to take action in the immediate future and plan to do better next week. One thing I’m worried about for the future is that I would relapse and would be back in the preparation

I know I am a workaholic and I am trying to get away from this I am learning to delegate and put my foot down, especially saying “No”. I know I have always felt satisfied when I kept doing more and endlessly tiring myself. I know I have been encouraged by my own self to be me, to be straight with people and with my own self; my own wants and feelings rather than crooked and covert. In this manner I am learning to understand what I want and possibly how to get it.…

What if being fucked in the mind was a metaphor for kicking the blues away? As I relive my life backwards and forwards, a reoccurring hymn becomes engraved in my nervous system: the future remains uncertain and quite possibly a utopian shade of 'I love you.' In it, a boy has grown accustom to the idea of walking through life wearing an armor made of glass. By his own account, the armor manages to showcase images of the sky falling despite being curious if the ever-changing stars will one day align in his favor. He is looking from the outside in with hopes of someone understanding how chaotic his anxiety dreams have become while worrying if outsiders, unknowingly, have or will discredit his well-being as a now 20-something year old when standing…

If someone smiles at you, or laughs at your joke, you know you said something funny, or did something right. If you get a dirty look, or someone begins crying after you say something, you probably did something wrong.…

The digital glow of the screen glossed over the entirety of the reality around me, painting me with a ghostly appearance sitting in my desperate, anxiety-fueled state, paralyzed, the loading icon going around, and around, and around (Repetition for Effect). Ages seemed to pass as I was waiting, only to see those numbers on the screen which I was completely unaware would crush me. “How did I receive a 77?,” I could not help but beckon aloud to the hollow room the question only myself could answer.…
