The Time I Went Hunting With My Dad
One November morning way before I wake up, I woke up to my alarm. I walked to my door like a sloth. My Dad was already dressed and was waiting for me. I put on my pants and my boots.I put on my coat and hat. “Let’s head out to the blind” I said. We stepped out onto the crunchy white snow. Stepping on each icy step at a time. We walked over to the blind “It’s cold.” I said. My Dad opened the door to the blind. I walked in and turned on the little heater. It was starting to heat up in the room . That’s when the spiders started to come in the blind.
I kept pulling my gun up fast practicing for when the deer comes, if the deer comes. We waited and waited. I looked around outside the blind, and I saw nothing.

I looked over and saw a buck standing there, eating the frozen grass. I started shaking, thinking that I might actually shoot something within the next 10 minutes. I grabbed ahold of my gun and got prepared to shoot. My dad told me to pick a spot for me to shoot when the deer walks there, so I pick a big oak tree straight in front of me. The buck started walking toward the tree I picked, so I put my eye up to the scope, and gathered myself to shoot.…

The ray of light from the flashlight casts a luminescent glow on the ground, allowing us to keep a watchful eye on where we are stepping. As we walk, I feel the crunch of breaking thin ice, and the stickiness of the mud under my feet. I smell the crisp, clean aroma of the morning air. We weave our way through the woods trying to avoid puddles of unfrozen water, and logs that are in the way of the trails we have made. Finally, I spot the…

Just before she disappeared into the evergreens on our right, the same place they had disappeared the first time, I was able to spot a squirt of crimson red blood seep out of her. Usually after you shoot a deer you wait at least 30 minutes to go look for it unless it’s sitting dead in front of you. I barely made it ten before my dad gave in and we climbed down. Before we even left the stand, my dad told me to look for blood, which is actually what you’re supposed to do.…
