Personal Narrative: The Time I Was A Mean Girl

Improved Essays
The time I was a mean girl– it’s a story that I’m both proud and ashamed to tell. Proud because it shows how much I’ve grown since the third grade, but ashamed because it reminds me that I was Regina George in the body of a little girl. The mess began with Gabrielle Fisher. She was everything I wasn’t. The girl was from New York and seemed exotic to everyone in my class, including myself. She exuded this punk-rocker vibe, sporting a pink highlight and knee-high Converse. I was as jealous as any girl could get, but soon, it was more than just jealousy. One of my friends said Gabrielle said I was annoying (which was fair), but annoying was enough to drop a ball of adolescent fury. I made it my mission to hate Gabrielle Fisher. Besides bad-mouthing

Before high school, I always thought I was an average student, but when I transitioned into high school, people started to point out that I had potential. I began to work harder than I had ever before and I began to accelerate in every course. This never took a toll on me till the tenth grade, when my mental health started degrading. Anxiety was my first foe. During the beginning of the tenth grade, I had set high expectations for myself and it began to affect my life greatly For instance, after finishing the test, I would think about just one specific question that I thought I completed wrong.…

Everyone changes at least once during their time in high school. Over the last few years, I have been through a variety of challenges. God has blessed me with an amazing four years of learning; not only just in school, but also in life. One can only make so many mistakes before he or she learns from them. I do not have many regrets in my high school career, but I am glad that I was able to learn from them.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…

I am divergent when it comes to deciding if I am a carrot, egg or coffee bean. It truly depends on what is happening and what environment I am in. My past experiences changed how I react to difficulties faced in life now. When faced with adversity, I can be stiff and hard inside like an egg, I can get soft and weak like a carrot, or I can change the situation in front of me just like a coffee bean. It all depends on the circumstances.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…

It is estimated that over 100,000 students miss school every day due to fear of being bullied. Since I was little I always had many friends, especially in middle school, one friend in particular, Eduardo. Eduardo was being bullied by a bunch of big kids. I never really paid much attention to it, until it happened to me. One day walking to my next class with my new Nike shoes that my mom had got me the day before, everyone complimented me on them, then Fredi, some dude that was irritating with me since the school year began, squinted at my shoes and smiled and luaghed and said "where did your mom get them from?…

One of the highlights of my middle school experience has been the opportunity to work with my peers. Although I enjoy teacher led classes, I find that I am at my best when working on projects with classmates. This is particularly true in the areas of math and computer science. One particularly rewarding group project, which I describe below, was my seventh grade Science Expo project.…

Contrary to the experiences of a multitude of my peers, my middle school experience was, for the most part, positive and beneficial. Not to imply that I enjoyed middle school more than Elementary School, but during middle school, I met new people, tried new things, and branched out socially. Eighth grade especially was when I was shaped more into the person I am today, more so than any other grade in middle school. A significant part of my Eighth grade was not only branching out socially, but branching out musically. Prior to the beginning of the school year, I began to receive drum lessons.…

Four years ago I was placed on a lacrosse team with fifteen other small, young girls. I had never meet any of the other players who I stood by that first day of a new team. I came into that season with an open-mind about learning new names and improving my skills for my favorite game, but, never did I imagine that I would meet someone who would change my life entirely. Never did I expect that the shortest girl, with bangs and nerdy glasses, would become my best friend. Never did I expect that the girl who joined me for frozen yogurt one day would inspire me to be the best I can be.…
