Personal Narrative: The Time Constraint Theory

Decent Essays
While growing up the foodwork within my household was not shared equally among both my parents. Even with a full-time job, my mom did both lunch, and dinner cooking; my mom would prepare lunch before she left for work early morning. When cooking my mom would do everything from start to the end without any help, which included washing, cutting, cooking, and the cleaning-up process. After watching my mom be the primary homemaker, I have learned to accept that this is a requirement for all women, and it is your job to be a homemakers after marriage. When comparing it to now, the time constraint theory is shown since my mom left her full-time job for a part time job, hence she has more time for foodwork duties (Brady, Power, Szabo & Gingras, 2017).

The Journey, In Retrospect The whole semester of English 5A was like playing with Legos, but with literature. I would use the things I learned previously in high school and build them up with the new things I learned from 5A. It was very difficult to find the right parts and piece them together to create the “perfect” essay. On the other hand, I was able to learn the necessary skills to converse with the authors in the text, From Inquiry to an Academic Writing, by Stuart Greene and April Lidinsky.…

My mom still works just as much as she used to in order to provide for the family. There is never a day where I see my mom sit back and wonders why she works so hard, whenever she is resting she explains that it’s only to prepare her for tomorrow.…

My grandmother believes that it is the womans’ responsibility to be a proper housewife by making dinner, keeping the house clean, and making sure the children are taken care of. She acquired this belief through her own experiences with her mother. Back then, it was more of a normalcy to stay at home and not have much of a life while the husband worked. She presents this belief by telling me I need to learn to start cooking and being more organized so that I can get married. This article continues to revolve around the “second shift”, but it also discusses gender strategies and the changes in families, marriage, and work force, depending on how a couple may decide to construct their lives.…

For me it actually started when I was in the seventh grade, my mom received the rights to take care of my ill grandfather (her father).
