Personal Narrative: The Thick Rays

Great Essays
I once went with my friend to our teacher's classroom to finish our science project. Both of us overheard Mrs. Bowers, Mrs. Turner, and Mrs. Bliss talking about a shrink ray yesterday. I asked my friend, Sam, "What do you think they were talking about?" "I don't know, let's just finish our science project." said Sam. In the corner of my eye, I saw a secretive object covered in a gigantic cloth. I wondered what it was, so I reached over and gently took the cloth and slowly took it off. The cloth snagged on the power lever of the machine, the machine suddenly sprang to life. It started making weird mechanical noises, I thought that something was wrong. So I came closer and closer to the machine, I realized that this machine was the shrink ray that the teacher's were talking about. Before I could dive out of the ray's way, I suddenly was shot with a laser and I was shrunk into the size of a microorganism. I was blown by the air conditioner and there I was, on my friend's apple. My friend ate his apple, it all happened in slow motion. I could smell his terrible breath, I almost fainted, but the real hazard came …show more content…
So I swam to the bottom to the tube to the small intestine. I was in a dark, foul-smelling, creepy place, I was in the small intestine. I suddenly remembered that in the small intestine, there was bile and pancreatic juice that would break my fat down, I had to dodge this, so I climbed upside down all they way to the tube to the large intestine. "Man, I can't believe that it has been like 5 hours!" I thought. Inside the large intestine, I threw up, it was disgusting, I was a mad scientist to think all this crazy stuff to get out of my friend's body. I had to get through all that feces (wastes) to get out of the large

The Crevasse “Adversity is the source of our deepest growth and greatest blessings; embrace it, dare to seek It,” that was a quote from Aron Ralston, who fell down a crevasse and his arm was wedged under a rock, which inspired the movie “127 Hours.” One day I was going to the creek with my friends, Matthew and Kendal, to hang out. I couldn't agree more, sometimes I think to myself as well if I have any repressed memories that impact my personality. I never used to be so compulsive or expressive, but I think that has to do with a defense mechanism of mine. I know I have some repressed memories that have molded my personality to be more defensive at times, although I don't like that myself, I do feel it is a defense mechanism to be guarded for protection. I honestly did the same thing with the denial mechanism with my best friend during high school. I was in denial because of my friends passing just wasn't acceptable, and when people approached or confronted me, I pretended as though he was on a long vacation.…

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. All his neighbors knew was that he was a scientist who only spent his time in his office busy with some bizarre idea he had to get to space. The only reason people knew about this outlandish mission was because when he took his morning walks, precisely at eight thirty in the morning every day, he would always be talking about something like “a lift off” and “the house in space.” Obviously you wouldn’t find a normal person talking about their house in space. Aha!…
