In the middle of Manhattan in New York City – the land of opportunity, I walked into the St Patricks Cathederal. When I entered I felt serienty. It felt amazing to leave the chaos of the city behind e and enjoy some peace in this truly amazing church. I was able to sit back on the pew and enjoy some peace and just reflect back on life. Preacher Jonathan Edwards was able to give a sermon that greatly impacted others. Despite his monotonous voice and actions, he was able to strike fear into the hearts of many Puritans, solely through his diction and elaborate use of imagery. The figurative language present throughout his speech could have been represented in several ways, including an image based on his descriptions of the human relationship with God. There were many sketches that illustrated the speech by Jonathan Edwards very well; however, one sketch in particular accurately brought the speech to life.…

The artwork I chose to imagine is Van Gogh’s famous oil painting called Starry Night. It was painted in June of 1889 and has grown to be known as one of his most famous paintings. Van Gogh was a post-impressionist and painted Starry Night from memory in his apartment. The view is of a village from a window in an asylum. I chose this painting because it has always been hanging in my Aunt’s living room.…

We had this amazing spot that had a bridge that we made and everything. We were bringing further supplies to add on to the spot and make it look more visually appealing. When we arrived at the park we brought all of the supplies down under a bridge.…

Throughout the story we realize the man who is the narrator and has the ability to see is more blind than the man who is medically diagnosed as “blind” an irony to say that a man who has no vision can see more than a man who has perfect 20/20. We can perceive this by lack of insight he lacks towards his wife, and the way he is unable to describe detail on a cathedral to Robert. Thanks to his lack of insight, he went through something powerful when he decided to draw out the cathedral with Robert. We now understand that the them is “don’t judge a book by its cover” meaning don’t be quick to assume of how a person might be just by looking at them without really looking at them in a deeper level and also how one moment in your life can deeply impact you and even change who you are.…

The actual colors of the rooms were great examples of symbolism. Blue stood for heaven and truth, purple for sorrow and suffering, green for nature and hope for eternal life, orange for strength and endurance, white for dark blood, and black for death or grief. The black room had a lot of different symbolism. Inside the black room the was the ebony clock, "Every sense is engaged, as the rooms change color and the monstrous clock counts down the minutes of life left to the characters-and perhaps to the readers"("Explanation of: The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe."). The clock seemed to count down the time until people died, because for every time the clock tolled, someone died. "…

I watched the people from the city enter the park and watched as their city attitudes give way to the magical ambiance of the park. These artifacts and art pieces were not grandiose splurges, but rather they have been accumulated over the course of one hundred years. The stained glass windows depict not only the frightening foretelling of what could be for those who shun God, but they also show His mercy and love. Sunlight shines through them as rays of light beaming down from heaven, illuminating us and the basic ideas we hold as Catholics. Misconceptions about my church will not stop me from loving it.…

The stained glass windows make some people feel secure because of the beautiful transcending coloring light that the windows give off make them feel comforting. Fred Kleiner, a publicist on Roman art/architecture and author of Gardner 's Art through the Ages: The Western Perspective states, "The glass windows in a church are Holy Scriptures, which expel wind and the rain, that is, all things hurtful, but transmit the light of the True Sun, that is, God, into the hearts of the faithful" (365). Kleiner is suggesting that people feel compelled to churches because the stained glass windows make people feel that they are together with God, which is ultimately true. Stained glass windows are visually compelling, therefore catching the attention of everyone that comes inside a Church. Not only does…
