Personal Narrative: The St. Jude Performance Team

Personal Narrative Ever since I was 6 I have been a part of a team called “The St. Jude Performance Team” and our main goal is to raise money for children who are sick with cancer. We are the only St. Jude Performance Team in the world. We meet every sunday and we have a show every year in March. Being a part of this team has made me into a better person, it taught me not to be selfish and to appreciate everything I have. I first started when I was in 1st grade and I was very shy at the time. I didn’t like going to the practices, because I was embarrassed to dance in front of people. At this time, I was very little and didn’t understand that I what I was doing was to help kids and that this wasn’t for me. I remember my first show that I did. At that age, I wasn’t expected to be good it was more just for the “cute factor”. Right before we went on I was so nervous, and I remember when I first walked out in front of all those people I suddenly froze and was just memorized by all the lights shining directly into my eyes. After we danced I watched the older kids dance and I thought they were so cool because they all did their dance insync. From then on I wanted to be exactly like them so I decided that the next year I would try harder to be good. I would think that I was to cool to dance and when I danced it would be really awkwardly. Also every Sunday when I was suppose to practice I didn’t want to go I just wanted to hang out with my friends. This stage of me thinking I was to cool lasted about till 7th grade. During my 8th grade year I broke out of my shell and I started enjoying it again and I know longer cared what people thought of me because this was for the kids.
