As with anything, it is often difficult to begin a journey since one does not have momentum to easily progress. Working on Portfolio number 2 made me realize the different ways I should approach a certain subject. In the beginning, I had a good idead as to what to look for in sources. However, I noticed that I located sources that were similar in idea. As a result, I had to go out of my way and find certain subjects that still kept the core principle of soccer but offered diverse information. Those subjects ranged from how certain individuals in the soccer community impact lives to the corruption that the sport has. I compiled a list of sources that actually offered uniqueness and added new knowledge to the people reading them. While summarizing …show more content…
However, while reading and watching my sources I noticed that there was still a plethora of information that I was yet to discover. Soccer as a sport has a variety o aspects to it. For one, there is the economic side of it. Information such as the different methods that companies use to advertise certain products during soccer matches and the corruptions that can be started from the pursuit of money are vastly different but still have a dash of an economic background. Then there is the part where the sport of soccer can impact the lives of many people especially the young population. Different ways such as countries starting programs and the way certain individual can influence their followers are methods in which people can change for the better. I find it particularly interesting to see how each topic has their upside and their downside. It seems as if everyone has their own point of view in these topics. An example would be how Qatar is training young boys to become better soccer players. Even though some might see it as helping the boys and their families, others might see it as a selfish attempt for Qatar to better their national team. All in all, these topics gave me a new perceptive on the business side and the dark side of soccer. I learned plenty from these source and I will continue to go deeper into the

Daniel J. Flynn’s argument of why “Football Does a Body Good” is extremely unconvincing. The evidence that he presents throughout the essay fails to debunk the counterargument of how dangerous football can be. The essay is full of statistics and examples of how football can positively benefit the readers- unfortunately all the facts that are shown are ineffective. He unsuccessfully argues toward the benefit of football by failing to present appeals to reason, having a lack in his credibility, and having a biased and argumentative tone for the duration of his essay. Aristotle’s three proofs are logos, ethos, and pathos.…

Eventually, a month before my first semester at Montgomery College started, the soccer team began with full-force, demanding prospective players to go through a harsh two session per day, seven days a week pre-season. Under the coaching of the demanding yet respectable Pedro Braz, the team and I were embedded with the idea that we had to become discipline and fit in order to raise up to the challenge of keeping the victorious legacy that he had built since his arrival two years ago. Personally, I had never gone through such an intense period of physical work in my entire life, in some instances almost to the point of complete exhaustion. Two weeks, 24 three-hour-sessions later, and our first friendly match in pre-season arrived. I can hardly remember any moments of that game, but I can remember what I felt standing on the pitch waiting to play the game as if I had that moment tattooed on my arm; I felt euphoric at the thought of have completed a pre-season that only very few people could have…

Throughout my short life journey, soccer has been an enormous part of my life. I began playing soccer at a young age; this is the point in my life when I fell in love with the sport. As I grew older soccer became less of a hobby, and more of a lifestyle. Today, I am literate in the sport of soccer, because I have proficient skills, and a firm understanding of the game. When I was little people always told me that nothing comes for free, and at the time, I really didn’t give it much thought. Now that I’m older I know that nothing comes easy and if you really want to accomplish something and be good at it, you must work. In 2012 when I was about ten years old, I remember going to my cousin Jacob’s football game. He played here at Cesar Chavez, he was number 36 and played fullback and linebacker.…

My soccer team was together for a very long time and we were all great friends. As we kept getting older we needed more girls to have enough to play and they always fit right in with us and got to know us very well. That changed this fall when the team split. None of us were happy, at least six or seven girls quit playing soccer and I was one of them. A few girls went to different clubs but the rest went to CBSC ( Council Bluffs Soccer Club) but I didn’t because I’m not a big fan of soccer anymore. After getting hurt all the times I did in soccer I realized that it's not worth it if you’re going to be out for a third of the season and if your injury makes you miss out on other sports.…
