Basketball lasted through middle and high school, but nevertheless, I learned quickly that college basketball was not my next step. Joy and happiness carried my teammates and I through every season, although the yelling would start when laughing was the only activity at practice. Even though the cheerleaders’ voices at Goose Creek High School filled the gym, however, my teammates and I filled the gym and the lobby. The game of basketball is mesmerizing because it keeps everybody on the edge of their seats with every shot that goes in, every foul that is called, and especially when a dunk occurs.
