My new devotion had me in the gym an hour before school and an hour after school every day of the school week. On weekends, Saturday meant open gym at the middle school, and Sunday was reserved for shooting lessons. This new level of dedication and hard work paid off my eighth grade year, when I was promoted to an A Team backup position. Then, as my dad always told me “Never be satisfied, always be determined to be better,” I still wanted more. I craved a starting role and continued this demanding schedule to better myself. Unfortunately, my role remained unchanged and I ended the season as the A Team backup center. Although that season I never became a starter, in my opinion, I succeeded. This experience showed me the pain of failure. I also attribute this experience to my current drive to be the best and understanding that success requires a strong work
