2) Dr. Ferry spent much of the beginning of the semester discussing about various curricular models (Dance Education, Sport Education, Fitness Education, Outdoor/Adventure). Pick one and explain in detail your plans for integrating this model in your teaching. Specifically, why you are going to include it, how you will overcome any perceived/potential barriers (including 3 specific detailed hypothetical examples), and 5 specific teaching/curricular items you will make sure you address/ include when you teach this unit. (10 pts)

I have chosen to use the sport education model not only because I feel like it incorporates essential parts of a students development such as being a team player, organization as well as skill proficiency, but

For example I would assigned two schools out of the pool of schools that are available for the semester to each students. Each student has to observe one school for 7h and then switches school for the other 7 1/2h. One student can only observe one school at a time, but then switches schools with another student for the final 7 1/2h. This way each students gets to experience two schools and two different styles. In an ideal world that would mean one middle and one high school, but I know how difficult that would be. Another thing I could think of is only applicable for the FALL semesters, but we us students tend to do things last minute, and having an assignment due on the Monday after Thanksgiving is “a students nightmare”, just because we don’t do them in a timely manner. So in my personal opinion I would let students turn in the assignment before Thanksgiving break or maybe midweek after the break. Once again that is just my thought, generally speaking. Furthermore I liked that we had so many opportunities to teach and get feedback. I actually liked the unit plan assignment, because I think it taught me in detail and volume what to do and what to think of. I also like the fact that we are able to rewrite things and basically learn from our mistakes. Feedback is so important, in order to progress and become better as a person or

Basketball has been a part of my life as I have played it since I could remember. I was in the school’s team year after year and was even drafted for the team as high school came. However, a bike accident prior to the regional tournament took a toll on my body. The lower pelvic of my right foot was injured and could no longer withstand the stress of playing basketball. All hopes and expectations of playing in the high school team were shattered.…

It was on a cool spring night in the middle of May. I was running on a field next to 11 of my teammates and 12 opponents. We were losing the lacrosse game by two points and we had four minutes left in the game. I instinctively made a choice that looked bad on the outside but ultimately… was still a bad choice. It was around 8 o’clock on a thursday night, our girls lacrosse team was playing a normal regulation game against the dreaded high school team from Hempfield.…

When I arrived at my enormous new high school for cheerleading auditions, I got lost. It was June, and since classes had just ended, crowds of kids filled the hallways, and I got bumped around like I did not exist. Thankfully, a cheerleader saw me and figured that I had come there for tryouts since I wore shorts, cheer shoes and a big bow in my hair. She took me to the gym where at least sixty girls had shown up to compete. The first thing I saw was cheerleaders doing high level tumbling with no fear.…

“Alright Linds, just remember-- since you’re the captain, it’s your job to be in charge of ordering warm ups,” my coach warned me. That one little sentence made me cringe. I was now in charge of selecting the warmups, gaining consensus, collecting money, and purchasing them for the Varsity Girls’ Soccer Team. A couple of days after I was delegated to be in charge of warm-up duty, I realized I should just accept the responsibility and stop putting it off any longer.…

My sunburn lines between my shorts and socks symbolized the restless, tiring hours spent out on the field. Every Tuesday and Thursday, for two and a half hours, the sun scorched my body while my legs would scrape into the ground. The cluster consisted of the seniors’ looming bodies that would go shoulder to shoulder against my own freshman self as our feet would battle for control. While this exhaustion enthralled and encouraged my game, the sprints, planks, runs, and more caused me to dread going to that grassy field every week. The humidity produced heavy, useless pants from my lungs as my throat would feel as if it was closing in from a claustrophobic nightmare.…

Last year during fantasy football I had a great team my players rarely got hurt and none of them got suspended. On the other hand almost all of my opponents had to deal with that. My opponents all agreed that I had the best draft overall, and I would still get beat by all of them. First is the draft of a lifetime, I got the second pick and I picked Le'veon Bell. I also got many other good players such as: Drew Brees, Panthers Defense, Derek Carr, and Amari Cooper.…

When I read the description for the thematic unit assignment, I immediately knew I wanted to use The Hunger Games. Since reading the trilogy a few years ago I have, on multiple occasions, thought about how great it would be to use in the classroom. It is an exciting, engaging story that students enjoy but also addresses numerous important aspects of today’s society. This allows students to ease into talking about sensitive or overwhelming topics – like various forms of government, the corruption of power, heroism, the impact of reality television, loyalty – by creating a safe but critical space for exploring them. By discussing the characters and plot of the story then broadening the scope to include personal experiences and the current state…

In my paper I will only be talking about three of my interviews because one of them had very little responses.
