A powerful quote from Carly Fiorina proves my point, she said: “Leadership is about making a positive difference for and with others. Leadership is about the integrity of one’s character, the caliber of one’s capabilities, and the effectiveness of one’s collaboration with others.” Reflecting on this statement, I realize I am not a picture-perfect leader, but I have certain strengths and weaknesses that, if further developed, could help me one day become a valued leader. The Servant Leadership Online Self-Assessment allowed me to take a step back and pinpoint what I believe to be my personal strengths and weaknesses. In order to have an accurate self-assessment, I thought of previous examples of my leadership in various class projects and work experiences. After considering all of this, I narrowed down my core strengths to Listening, Empathy, and Calling. I have a relationship-focused type of leadership style. Guidance, direction, and management are three words that describe the trait of leadership. The dictionary describes leadership as the action of leading a group of people or organization. I agree with this definition but also believe that leadership is a skill that is hard to master, and makes people around you feel more secure with where they're going and what they're doing with their time. We see and follow leaders everyday such as teachers, parents, fellow peers and even sometimes we’re the ones showing leadership to the people around us. And while leadership can be a good thing, there are times when leadership is not necessary or even taken too far.…
