A good day for me would be no school for my niece and me. We would sleep in late and would go out to eat. After we ate, we would go find an activity to do, such as the park, museum, candy store, etc. After that, we would return home and watch old movies, all night.
With The Self Determination Theory it states that people basic need are autonomy, competence, and relatedness. My hypothetical good day includes all three needs. Autonomy is being in control and the feeling that you have a choice. I would choose and control, where my niece and I would go and do. I would also control what movies we would watch. Doing the week, I have no choice, but to send my niece to school because it is required by the law. I know that I am able capable of going

Keira became a walking corpse. Her full face grew skinnier than before, and her freckles were absent. Her face was as pale as a bust in a museum, but blue and veiny around her eyes. Her mouth constantly remained open, for she was unable to breathe from her nose. She had started to talk to herself, and she told herself all the time: “it'll all be over soon.…

My experiences over the last six years living in NYC have shaped me into the approachable and compassionate person I am today. I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

“Shes coming back right?” a baffled 7 year old asks in response to the appalling news of her mother’s death. A vibrant imagination is accompanied by a crushing pain of reality that trails behind it ; I discovered this when I heard the words “no” . 10 years later, that conversation lingers in my head and holds not a cacophonous nor euphonious sound, but instead holds the neutral tone of reality, an alarm . As routine , at 6a.m., I hear a melodious alarm followed by the pitter-patter of my aunt who is getting ready for work.…

My idea of a perfect day would run ever so smoothly, and joyfully. I would begin the day with the most enjoyable thing to sustain me throughout the long-lasting hours, followed by relaxation. Although, you must not forget a speck of excitement. If I could do all of my favorite things in the limited amount of time you have during 24-hours, I would be bubbling with merry smiles and cheer. To start off the day I would first be going to Mass.…

Determination in the dictionary is defined as a quality that makes you continue trying to do or achieve something that is difficult. To me the definition of determined is pushing through the adversity in life that I face each day. I choose the word determination not only for the denotation of the word, but also the connotation the word has. I feel that determination has a very strong meaning behind it of grit and the will to persevere through any roadblocks, which led me to choose this word. Overall I think both the connotation and the denotation lay out a way I would describe myself.…

When my sisters both went to college, I started being held responsible for my actions, which was new to me because they would always get in trouble in place of me. Coming home past my given curfew now became a problem since my sisters were out of the house. This lead me to become more independent because I had to start doing some stuff for myself.
