Personal Narrative: The Scurry County Courthouse

Improved Essays
My first stop on the hunt for government offices and or buildings in Snyder is the Scurry County Courthouse. I had no problem finding this building due to how it's located in the center of town and all the main roads lead to the "square" where the Courthouse is located. The buildings address is 1806 25th street. Lainey, Ellis and I met at the building so we could take pictures for each other around 5:42 p.m. and there was no one in the parking lot except our own cars, but there was a bit of business due to people getting off work. The Courthouse is surrounded by various boutiques and a business that serves ice cream and coffee. Directly in front of the Courthouse is the Memorial Roll of Honor which encompasses a list of troops who have sacrificed …show more content…
I exited the coliseum feeling confident because I knew my way to our last location without needing help from any of my friends. As I was heading up to the police station, I saw it in fearlessness because I knew for sure that I wouldn’t mess this one up. I was sadly mistaken as a result of missing the first entrance due to my horrible eye sight and the lack of street lights on 37th street. The next entrance comes, but I almost missed it too if it wasn’t for my passengers to tell me the turn was coming up. I instantly slammed on my breaks and turned into the entrance. Little did I know, there was a huge pot hole on the entryway of the station that I had seemed to miss. Hitting the large depression of the road produced the axles of my car make an awful screeching noise, grind the undercarriage of my vehicle to the ground, and spring everyone in the car, including my golf clubs, raise into the air. The event resulted in Lainey and Ellis rapidly burst into laughter. While I on the other hand was worried that something bad might have happened to my car. After I checked my car to see if everything was okay or not, I commenced to join in with their laughter trying to play it off that I wasn’t worried about the situation at all. We took the pictures we needed, even though it 6:15 p.m. and was starting to get dark out, and proceeded back into my car to drop off everyone to their own cars. There was only one car parked which was still running with no one in it. There wasn't anything special that was in front or around the Jail House except for their sign stating what the building was. This building is also made out of brick like the library was. A Jail House is an inmate, usually awaiting trial or sentencing, who claims to have been the recipient of an admission made by another prisoner awaiting trial, and who agrees to testify against that prisoner in a court of law,

President Barack Obama once said “When all American are treated as equal, no matter who they are or who they love, we are all more free.” As a Hispanic LGBTQ American, these words resonated with me. In my exposure to a plethora of cultures, in my personal experience and academic career, I have had the privilege to understand and further appreciate many lifestyles. Through these experiences, my mission: to serve toward compassion and respect, rather than intolerance and isolation, has remained clear. These past 8 years, Obama has been a champion for LGBTQ+ Americans.…

If you had asked any of my peers for a description of who I am, they would have said that I was someone who was shy, and possibly even a bit awkward. This was a personality trait that I had been struggling with throughout the majority of my life. I had grown up as an only child, incessantly feeling out of place among my peers. It wasn’t until the middle of my freshman year of high school that I gained the self-confidence I had only dreamed about.…
