Personal Narrative-The Rochester Girls Golf Team

The past six years, the Rochester girls golf team has made it to State and has finished in either 2nd or 3rd place. There has not been a team in the school history to ever win the team title for girls golf. Coach Hill, Coach Mayer, Morgan Savage, Gabby Isaacks, myself and Lindsay Alewelt would tackle Red Tail Run on a cold, windy course to destroy the odds given to us on October 16th and 17th. Through trust, hard work, motivation, and a little luck, the 2015 Rochester girls golf team vanquished their oppositions and took home a state title. Leaving myself the greatest memory of my High School experience. Before diving into the State finals, let me give you a little background on our team and our season heading into State. Let me tell you everyone had windburn and our lips were as dry as the Sahara desert. Today felt like we were going to win, there was this nostalgic feeling in the air. I could tell the girl i golfed with did not have good sleep and that something was different with her. Giving me a boost of energy heading into the day. Also, there was a calmness and easiness that wasn’t there yesterday for me. It was like, it was only me and the golf course and another day at the office. Before we headed out Mr. Hill huddled us in a circle and gave us three seniors, Morgan, Gabby, and myself an emotional speech telling us, “No matter what, I just want you guys to have fun and even if you do bad, know that I know you tried your best.” Which made us burst into tears like the Niagra falls. I started off great and made my big numbers from yesterday small and my small numbers even smaller. Cutting to the chase, I defeated my girl by seven, giving me hope that we had a chance because I knew Morgan could get the other four strokes easily and Gabby could get one or two, and still have plenty of strokes left over. Finally, the 2015 Rochester girls golf team captured a State title after six years of agony. Not only did we win, we won by sixteen strokes and played really phenomenal golf that
