The Road to a new Chapter
Now that I am soon heading to college in Oregon and leaving almost all of my friends and my family I wonder what new chapter I will soon start with in my life. As my best friend Ziggy and I drove all the way to Oregon we were discussing all the awesome memories we had when we were little and how I once sprayed her with water because she was dressed like a ghost and almost made my heart pop out. Ziggy has been my best friend since we were in preschool. I met Ziggy when she let me sit next to her because all the chairs were taken. Since we were both religious we said our prayers and we thanked God for everything he has given us and asked him especially to take care of our parents and siblings. Ziggy, who was adopted prayed that nothing bad would happen to her “mom” and “ brothers and sisters”. As Ziggy and I woke up early to be at school on time, the strangest thing happened. We saw a couple covered in ash and their faces painted like skeletons. Their walking alone as though they were going to a funeral. I asked Ziggy, “ Ziggy, what are they doing dressed like they slept in ash and all painted like a skeleton? Ziggy answered me saying “ You don't know what holiday is today?” “No”, I said. “ Today is “ El Dia De Los Muertos”, or as you Americans call it, “ The Day Of The Dead”. “How come I never knew of this holiday before”?, I said. “ Maybe its because you grew up having no television and your parents never liked that holiday.” Said Ziggy. “ Ziggy can we celebrate “ El Día de los Muertos?” I said.
