Road Test
I had been waiting for this day all my life. After a year of driving with a permit, it was time to take my drivers road test to get my license. I ran to my mother’s room and told her to get ready we had to be at the DMV by 11:30 am. She checked the time and to her surprise it was only 9:00 am, which for me was late. After 10 minutes of annoying her, she crawled out of bed.

I was so overwhelmed with emotion I didn’t care about what I had on, or how I looked. Which was a bad idea because they were going to take my picture, for my license. But I didn’t realize that until I arrived to the dmv. As of that moment I was worried about which car to take. According to dmv.org “it’s generally a good idea to test in the same vehicle you’ve been practicing in.” Unfortunately, the car I would practice in was a 1983 300d Mercedes Benz and usually has problems. So, my brother let me drive his car.

That was until a man came up to the telling me I couldn’t practice during business

As a reserved, young girl, I always dreamed with the idea of going out with friends and being able to get to places on my own. I knew that my parents weren’t always going to be able to be there when ever I needed them.…

To complete the simulation, I decided to go home. This was to avoid the need to travel as well as to be in an environment where no one was informed about the assignment. As I drove home, I created my story of how I would explain my new condition to my parent. Considering I had work during the first half of the day, my story became, “I lifted a heavy box of files at work from a high shelf without positioning my body correctly. As I tried to take the box down from the shelf, I lost control which resulted in my injury.”…

Being part of the generation who grew up watching Fast and the Furious films has always made me want to drive a car. At that time I knew I still had a while before I could drive, but any chance I got to be in the driver seat I would. My first time I ever got behind the wheel was right after I watch the fast and the furious in 2001. It was during the summer, my mom was washing her car and according to her “I accidently locked myself inside and somehow I managed to turn the car on and started backing up the car.” My mom was so scared she started yelling “put the car on park” “put the car on park” but I had no clue what she meant.…
