Personal Narrative: The Right To Life

One of the moral issues we covered in class that caught my attention the most was abortion. My views have not changed as a result of what I have read. For example, In “The Wrong of Abortion” by Patrick Lee and Robert P. George they explained, the right to life is something that is earned at that time of conception and the right to vote comes as a right when you are at the age in life to vote. However, someone's right to life comes at conception. It does not change no matter the circumstances that life gives us. I believe that everyone deserves to get a chance at life no matter what. This has helped me maintain my position and opinion about the abortion issue. From the time that the baby is conceived I believe that it is a person. A fetus, or a human whatever it it. It’s a human. I believe also, that if you are ready to be sexually active then you are taking the chance of possibly getting pregnant and you are fully responsible form there on out. If you …show more content…
Euthanasia is such a hard thinking topic. What I have read has helped to not change and maintain my position. For example, In "Active and Passive Euthanasia” by James Rachels mentions that letting someone die in their own time can be slow and painful, both to the patient and to the people who care about the patient. Watching a loved one suffer as he or she slowly diminishes until death would be very difficult to endure; simply ending the patient’s life immediately would not be quite as traumatic. However, I disagree because God is the only person who gives us life and takes it away. My position is letting the person die naturally. Watching someone in pain can be hard, but if we were to pray and believe in miracles God can do the impossible at the very last minute. That is why I will keep my position of Euthanasia not okay. It doesn’t matter if it’s active or passive. I believe a human should die naturally. In conclusion God is the only person who can take your life and no one

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

There are many different of points of view when it comes to the topic and discussion of euthanasia. Euthanasia is the ‘mercy killing’ of someone in order to relieve some type of great pain or suffering. (White 148) Conducting my opinion on this topic was rather difficult, because there are many different circumstances to consider when arguing for or against euthanasia. I agree completely with the idea of Voluntary Euthanasia, which is the mercy killing of someone with their consent.…

I really care about the whole pro-life/pro-choice debate. I grew up in a Catholic family, went to Catholic grade school, and even attended The March for Life with my eighth grade class. Growing up I was always told that things like birth control and abortion were completely against the church. Of course I believed this. As I transitioned into a public high school and began to learn more I realized that even though I was raised a certain way, I was pro-choice.…

Second of all, even if there was a good God, why would he want his creatures to suffer beyond words? Euthanasia is indeed a controversial issue, with the heart of the debate lying at active voluntary euthanasia and physician assisted suicide. Active euthanasia should be permitted just as passive euthanasia is allowed. Being realistic and honest, who wants to live in pain for years that anyway will lead to death, rather than a quick and painless…

Euthanasia, also known as doctor assisted suicide, and whether or not if it should be legalized is a very controversial. Euthanasia essentially is permission for doctors to end the lives of terminally ill people to end that pain. It being a very debatable topic some may argue that if there is no positive signs in sight then rather the patient suffer; end it. On the other hand is is arguable that life is valuable so live it through completely, and doctors being given the option of ending live devalues life. Personally, I believe under the right circumstances euthanasia is acceptable, especially if the victim of the suffering is asking to put an end to it as well.…

Of the several topics discussed so far in this class, this one has certainly caught my interest the most. My personal opinion is that abortion is an immoral choice but not always, depending on what the specific circumstances are. I have a moderate view on abortion which can be defined as, “moderates are willing to morally allow abortions in some cases and not others, but they give different reasons for doing so.” (White 84) People’s opinions are easily altered on this topic especially when it comes to personal experiences.…

Abortion is the early or premature termination of pregnancy that results in the loss of a human life. This controversial issue has been sparked debate between those with pro-life and pro-choice ideals. Pro-life advocates believe that pregnant women should not have the right to abort a human life because it would constitute murder. On the other hand, pro-choice supporters believe that women have the right to make decisions about their bodies and ultimately, the right to make a decision to either terminate the pregnancy or carry the baby to term. Although women may have the right to decide what is best for themselves and their body, it remains a fact that a fetus is considered a human being at conception, and abortion is, therefore, the act of…

The main contention with opposing views is when they believe the fetus is recognized as a person. Some believe that is mortally wrong to kill an innocent person no matter the size/age. “Since the fetus is an innocent being, it is mortally wrong to terminate its life.” There is a universal consensus that terminating an innocent person’s life is wrong but proponents of abortion fault the assertion that a fetus has equal status as a person. There is no real answer to when the fetus is actually a human; it’s just all opinions.…

Physician Assisted Suicide is one of the most controversial ethics topics in society today. Many believe that physician assisted suicide should be legalized across the U.S because of the positive impact it could have on those with terminal illness who want to avoid prolonged suffering in hospice care. Suicide with a medical professionals assistance is also justifiable as a person 's right because it in no way affects or endangers another person 's rights. If physician assisted suicide is legal for those who are mentally competent it could relieve pain for not only the person but their loved ones. On the other hand, it becomes debatable when taken into terms of religious and moral beliefs, many disagree with those who believe that it…

Each person has the right to control his or her body and life and so should be able to determine at what time, in what way and by whose hand he or she will die. Death should be a private matter, with the patient making the decision and no one should have a right to interfere with their choice. If the patient is terminally ill, is suffering and in constant pain a patient should have the right to die if that is what they choose. I do not feel that society should have a say so when death should occur. When and if a decision needs to be made for euthanasia, whether passive or active, the matter should be a decision that is made by the individual.…

Euthanasia is often times referred to as “assisted suicide” since it is the act of deliberately ending somebody’s life. Euthanasia puts suffering ahead of living and enjoying life. Instead of focusing on the suffering, those who deal with terminal illnesses should turn to God and ask him for help. Euthanasia makes it seem like some lives are lesser than others. Every life is sacred, and a life should not be taken unless it is by God.…

Some feel that abortion goes against their morals and religious beliefs. Others strongly believe that abortion is a woman’s right to decide. Personally, I believe it is a woman’s choice, because they know what is best for them. This debate between being for or against abortion has been going on since Roe won the Roe v. Wade case in 1973. As we have learned from history classes, Roe was a soon-to-be-mother who tried Texas’ laws because she wanted an abortion.…

Abortion is a huge problem that has caused a wide range of controversy all over the United States. There are two sides to the problem, which are people who oppose abortion or support it. Abortion becomes a big deal when trying to decide whether a fetus should be considered a human being already when a woman aborts. In my case I believe that a woman should not be able to abort a child inside her unless there is some type of serious medical issue where the child may not come out alive. When a woman aborts a child, they did not want, it is like the killing of another human being who had no say or ever did anything wrong to deserve it.…
