Personal Narrative: The Republican Debate

Decent Essays
I did attend the Republican debate and it was like some 5 years kids yelling at each other. Yesterday was "Super Tuesday", the day when 11 states held their presidential primaries. Clinton swept through the southern states creating a significant delegate lead over Bernie Sanders. Trump seems invincible now after winning most of the 11 state primaries. I don't know what's happening to America. After last night, Goggle said the most searched term on the the Internet was " How can I move to Canada coming from the US?".

Did you make it to the beach in Pattaya yet ? I am imagine you getting tired of the Bangkok city life. I prefer living in a quite and less crowed place as well.

I am known for the "American System" and known as the "Great Compromiser," however I have accomplished and been through so much more than that. Born in 1777 in Hanover County, Virginia, I was exposed to American history since I was young. In 1797, I moved to Kentucky along with many others wanting to pursue careers in law and politics. My political career began in 1803 when I was elected to the Kentucky General Assembly then appointed to the U.S. Senate in 1806. I was Secretary of State under John Quincy Adams.…

Life experiences are a very good way to present an argument especially political arguments. It gives the speaker more credibility, appeals to the emotions of the audience, and makes his/her argument more logical. Using a life experience as evidence in a political argument is known as an “autobiographical political argument.” Doron Taussig analyzes the use of this type of argument in a series of blogs entitled We are the 99 percent and We are the 53 percent. From his readings it would seem that autobiographical political arguments are very effective in a social/political context.…

Visions are only unique as the individual themselves who make up this country. America is not the same as it was ten years ago. Who would have thought that we would have cell phones that were similar to a small computer in our pocket, a car that could talk back to us, or that we would have an African American president? Our visions for America could change everyday. My vision for America is very unique for my age group.…

Little bit of Yankee, little bit of Ya’ll. Maybe a catchy t-shirt slogan, but not necessarily untrue. Having lived half my life in both New England and the South, I often feel like a combination of my two home experiences. This can be a little unsettling: up North, I’ve “turned Southern”, but down South, I’m definitely a Northerner. Though sometimes difficult, I’ve grown to like the alternate viewpoints I’ve gained living in different locations.…

Despite Aspen breaking America’s heart before the Selection, things get much worse for her, she gets selected. “ I whipped my head back around, and there is it was. The picture of me just after I found out Aspen was saving up to marry me, I looked radiant, hopeful, beautiful. I looked like I was in love, And some idiot thought that love was for Prince Maxon.”(Cass,2012,56) Honestly, America couldn’t even imagine being in the same room as Prince Maxon, or even being the next daughter of Illea.…

One million dollars, that is such a large sum of money. However I wish I would have obtained this money some other way, the money coming into my hands only means that your health is becoming more poor and I shall pray for you. As for the money, I will diligently delegate portions of it to three modern reforms that I feel are in need of it. The time that we’re living in is a great one, I’ve recently heard people calling it a progressive era, and that is a very fitting name. There are many people, muckrakers, politicians, activists who seek to better different aspects of our society.…

I come from a poor family. I never had brand-name shoes or video games, or even a Lisa Frank binder and stickers like my friends at school, but I always had plenty of food in the fridge at home. My family never went hungry in spite of the fact that we were raised by a single mother who made her living as a coffee shop waitress. I did not know, till I was a teenager, that my mom bought the majority of our groceries with food stamps. It never seemed odd to me that she went to the grocery store one time a month and stocked up on milk, sugar, lunchmeat, chicken legs, hamburger meat, and most importantly, coffee.…

On October 4th, the first and only vice presidential debate was scheduled to take place. Personally, I am not familiar with the role of the vice president other than to break ties in the senate. I didn’t have any idea what to expect from either of these candidates, other than to hear them defend the presidential candidates whom they will serve beneath. I predicted a stronger debate than the presidential debate and a win for the Democratic Party under Tim Kaine.…

The much anticipated first Republican primary debate is now officially behind us. As expected, it was colorful, amusing, at times intense, and at moments downright awkward. Overall, I wasn’t horribly impressed by any of the contests. Still, there were definitely winners and losers. I thought I’d share my thoughts on how each candidate performed.…

When I started to write I would write about the evaluation of a novel in a very formal format and I would write about the character and how they connect with a certain idea or theme. Although it was opinion and my perception of the question it did not differ from the one the other students had I still felt disconnected, I was meant to take a predestined path about the ideas that I wrote about. When came to college and I was given my first written assignment I wrote as an impartial third party that is following an idea that is different yet the same. I wrote it then when it was evaluated by a peer and I was told that nothing that I wrote about connected to me or felt personal in any case, and was asked what message I drew from these short story…

Without the interruptions or diversions from the topic, the presidential debates have to potential to enable us, American citizens, to make a rational decision based on the facts of the running parties’ platforms such as proposed healthcare plans or ideals of national security. Both candidates had shining moments in the debate, though I do not suspect the debate to sway Trump supporters to Clinton or vice versa. The outcome was essentially not adequate for such a decisive victory. With this said, I look forward to seeing how each contender prepares for the next…

As New Yorkers, we embody the American principle of diversity-- we have a little bit of everything from around the world. In my neighborhood alone, there are three different mosques and then a church. There are three South Asian restaurants around the block, a Mexican restaurant just across the street, and a Chinese restaurant two buildings down from there. In a two mile radius from my house there are three different types of doctors—my pediatrician, my mother’s PCP and my grandmother’s kidney specialist. There is nothing special about my small Brooklyn neighborhood, this is actually the case everywhere in New York City.…
