Personal Narrative-The Red Monster

Improved Essays
The smell of burning wood fills my nostrils. I follow the scent seeing red and orange flames spreading fast. I panic not knowing where to go till I heard a little yelp come from my left. I follow the sound now as it grows louder and louder till I come across a bundle of fur with big brown eyes looking up at me. I quickly pick up the little one and put him against my chest running from the red monster.
“Zabdiel, be careful!” I yell out to him.
“I will Zadock don’t worry!” Zabdiel calls back.
I watch the little cheetah hop rock from rock, his paws nearly touching the water. Finally he follows the rocks back to the surface of the water walking next to me once again. I watch as his studies the way I walk on all fours, knuckles and feet. Zabdiel

I become speechless and nod. Tears fill Zabdiel eyes as he turns around and walks away to our nest. I sigh and sit at the cliff side for what feels like forever.
In the morning I walk over to our nest to find Zabdiel is missing. I quickly grab a cluster of leaves and start to run. I look everywhere for Zabdiel, up the trees, by the rivers, I ask everyone I see. I go back to the cliff we were sitting at last night. I look out to the valley seeing cheetahs running what looks like they are racing. I sigh thinking one day Zabdiel will be like them one day. My eyes travel around the cheetahs and my heart skips a beat when I see Zabdiel staring at these cheetahs. I rush down as fast as I can to Zabdiel.
I eventually reach him and stop behind him when I see the look on his face, the look of curiosity and focus fills his eyes. I look up to see him staring at a cheetah full of energy running across the tall dead grass. The cheetah catches my eye and looks down at Zabdiel, and stops almost falling over. He slowly and effortlessly makes his way over to us not removing his stare from Zabdiel.
“Nixon?” The cheetah whispers a

“Just I lost my son about a year ago and he looks a lot like him”
Zabdiel looks at me with all different emotions in his eyes.
“My Nixon had a patch of white on his fur just like him, but he had a necklace around his neck.” Grey pipes up.
I grip on to the cluster of leaves I still have in my hand. I untangle the leaves and reveal a necklace with the words Zabdiel written on it. I hold it out to Grey; Grey’s eyes fill with tears.
“Nixon, it is you” He grabs Zabdiel in his arms and hugs him.
“Are you my Dad?” Zabdiel asks.
My heart grows numb hearing Zabdiel call someone else dad.
“Yes, I am” Grey replies.
“I, I don’t know if he is Zabdiel” I stutter.
“Nonsense! Look at us we look exactly the same” Grey argues.
He is right, they do look very similar.
“Now what is your name and where did you find my son?” Grey asks
“My name is Zadock, and there was a fire in the the part of the jungle and as I was running out I find Zabdiel”
“I lost Nix...I mean Zabdiel in a fire” Grey remembers.

Chapter One Zaphkiel sat on the green grass that was beginning to turn yellow, contently watching the pink and orange sky. The trees around him stood still, but the air was stiller as if the whole world were frozen in time. As the sun sank behind the horizon, a cold wind broke the stillness. Red and orange leaves fluttered to life in the gust of wind. Some of them broke free from their branches to dance in the breeze.…

July-Day 18 I can barely pull myself out of bed today, it's cold outside the blankets that have kept me safe since my descent to dreamland where I have been since 6:30 PM. I've slept for 12 hours and I want to keep sleeping. I want to stay in bed where nothing happens to any extremes. I dreamt of lighthouses and the light it casts out over the clear blue gulf sending a signal of safety to those passing by. I wonder about all the things that are like lighthouses to me.…

I was over ecstatic when Fernando, (also known as Fernie) my best guy friend asked me to go on a walking adventure with him in our hometown of Kelseyville, California. We started off the day by walking in the forest alongside of Kelsey Creek. This forest has a really big meaning to Fernie and I, because we both love nature in every aspect and these walking adventures are not uncommon to us. Starting on the path we both got lost in our own thoughts, I got distracted by looking above me at the the canopy the tree branches created. My eyes followed the patterns the sunlight was creating as it broke through the leaves and cascaded onto the uneven forest floor.…

“Within the first 100 years of the Europeans landing in the Americas, nine-tenths of the natives died out because of diseases the Europeans brought with them, such as smallpox and the plague. Corn, chocolate, and hemp were some goods that the Europeans got from the Americas. Most Spanish men were obsessed with three things: Gold, God, and Glory. To obtain these things, they had to go to the Americas. Hernan Cortes, a Spaniard, heard about El Dorado and went to Mexico in 1519 to find it.…

He then grabbed the whiskey from his pocket, poured it on the wound to cleanse it, and cut off a piece of his sleeve to wrap around the wound in order to stop the bleeding, in denial that he was actually dead. It’s very rare that this particular sniper was ever phased by anything. He stepped back a bit, horrified by the gruesome visual he would never be able to remove from his mind, ingrained in his thoughts, for every day, every hour, every waking moment from dawn ‘til dusk, and into the depth of night for as long as the sniper lived.…

Let me go back to when it all began I jolted awake as a blood curdling howl pierced the bitter cold air. What started out as a seemingly relaxed hiking trip turned into 3 days of pure, adreneline driven, survival, when a pack of ravenous, blood-thirsty gray wolves started hunting me. I thought I had lost them when I jumped 3 and a half meters across an almost bottomless ravine going a mile in either direction. I don't know how they caught up to me, but now was not the time to think about that.…
