Personal Narrative: The Red Hot Chili Peppers

Decent Essays
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of my favorite bands of all time. Have you ever heard a song on the radio before and wanted to hear it again? That’s what happened to me and it turned into a lifetime of listening. When I was young around the age of 8 or 9 I heard some songs on the radio called Dani California and Snow (Hey Oh). When I was young I didn’t know how to find songs unless the person on the radio said the songs name. Both times I had missed the names so I was shit out of luck but I had remembered most of the lyrics to the songs. I don’t remember exactly when I reheard the songs but it must have been two or three years later because that’s when I was just starting to get into iTunes (I had iTunes before but this was during the time I was getting into …show more content…
When I was young I didn’t have the common sense to look up if they had any other songs. It wasn’t until I got near or in high school that I really started to expand my musical taste. Besides Dani California and Snow Hey Oh I had only a few other songs that were hits like Soulja Boys Crank Dat and other stupid little songs like that. In high school a lot of people I met and became friends with introduced rap music to me. That’s where I really started to expand my music because I started to love music and needed more of it I needed to expand even more. I decided where better to start my expansion than my favorite bands albums. The first one I found was Blood Sugar Sex Magick and I loved it. Coincidentally at the same time I was in this guy called Mr. Reidelberger English 3-4 class. Who is one of my favorite teachers because he treats his students like humans instead of just another student. We had to do a speech about are favorite things so I chose the

I would play my imaginary piano during the piano solo. The second verse would start, “We made all the hotspots, my money flowed like wine” and I would try to sing the lyrics but it didn’t matter how many times I listen to this song I never could remember the words correctly so I hummed to the melody and got lost in sound of the music, dancing and spinning around and around waiting for the chorus to start again. When the chorus began I always sang it as loud as my voice would allow, “If you’ll be my Dixie Chicken…” This continued until the song was over, at this point I was very excited and wide awake. My brother and I would say play it again daddy, play it again.…

I woke up and I only had two hours of sleep, and my flight was leaving in two more hours. My head was pounding, I had a terrible headache and my throat was dry and in need of water, so I drank lots of Gatorade to avoid dehydration. My father picked me up at Renata’s house, and then we went to pick up my luggage and my aunts who were traveling back to the United States with me. Guasave had no airport so we had to go to Los Mochis; it was a thirty minutes drive and all I had in my mind was how much I would miss my family and friends, my mom cooking, my favorite places in Guasave such as Aroma café, the beach, the seafood, and the delicious restaurants.…

Oh Huckleberry Hound, the cartoon doggie, I loved him! Well, I neither knew very well to what the phrase 'Huckleberry friend' meant and for that reason Huckleberry Finn always came to my mind :) but reading to its own authors, 'Huckleberry friend' would be synonym of 'very very special good friend, that has been in your life for years, someone who stuck to you, and follows you to wherever you go', no matter where, and is with you in good times and bad. 'Stranger on the shore' is so beautiful, Ken, I love it. The other songs you mentioned are very good too, so these are the songs you would like to listen as if they were in the air, and they were activated, by a invisible hand, in every special moment of your life.…

While my parents traveled to and from work everyday, there were a couple of songs they may have heard quite often due to their popularity. If they happened to be listening to the radio when I was born, they more than likely heard the number one song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith (“Birthday No #1.”), which won the MTV Movie Award for Best Song from a Movie (“Aerosmith Awards.”). Diane Warren, the songwriter, became nominated for an Oscar for the Best Music from an Original Song, won the ASCAP Award for Most Performed Songs from Motion Pictures, and was even nominated for the Grammy Best Song written Specifically for Motion Picture or for Television (“Diane Warren Awards.”). Other songs they may have heard could have been “Candle in the Wind” by Elton John or even “Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden ("90s Hits – Billboard #1s.”). Other than listening to songs, my parents often found themselves sitting on a comfortable couch watching a hit TV show.…

People and music are inseparable as Macdonald (2008, 39) argues that ‘We are all musical. Every human being has a biological, social and cultural guarantee of musicianship.’ It is hardly possible to live without hearing music in daily life, and people has been building musical identity since they are born by negotiating through it. Thus, music is a significant matter in personal identity and analysis of one’s life can reveal one’s musical identity. This essay will demonstrate the analysis of my musical identity based on my life.…

I first gained an interest in music in elementary school music class. After playing recorders and learning about the history of music, I was inspired to learn as many different instruments as possible. I began piano lessons in third grade, and started learning cornet a year later. After many years of attending music camps, playing in school and church bands, joining marching band and drumline, and experimenting on my own, I have grown immensely as a musician. My main instruments are trumpet/cornet, piano, marimba, and ukulele.…

As a young girl growing up on the island, I used to have a list of songs that I loved. I had the opportunity to listen to a diverse group of songs that were very popular. One of the hits that made it to my country (Haiti) was the song called “Everyone Falls in Love Sometimes” by Tanto Metro and Devonte.…
