He displayed a broad-shouldered upper body and a very upright posture, while his legs were thin and looked to be easily tired. Thick brown eyebrows laid above his eyes, created an angry resting face. Bald with a clean shaven face, his lips curled away from his teeth, and instantly, he stole our trust with his dazzling smile. He quickly approached us, ecstatic to find comrades, and young ones at that. The healthy looking belly that rested above his belt indicated that he knew the location of food, which had overjoyed me. I was pleased that the individuals, who also shared a place in the unknown ship, were a group I could rely on. After he hobbled towards us, he bent down from the fatigue of those fifty paces. The aged man looked up, smelling of sweat and shaving gel, with light blue eyes that showed nothing but mental energy. Large exposed arms grabbed both the girl’s, and my wrists, then guided us to the cabinet of dry rations. It was clear that the he had been awake for much longer than us; yet he still did not understand why we was here. After we devoured our first meal in what felt like centuries, a thought dawned on me. I assumed that if there was a presence of other individuals on the ship, then there must be more people—maybe a captain that knows more about the

When he and the rest of his crew arrived at shore, in Cape Cod, they were almost immediately faced with inaccessibility to the shore and the climate absolutely unbearable. In the midst of the winter, many people were sick and dying. The few people that were spared the pain from sickness took care of the sick and dying by performing the homely and necessary offices for them with willingness and little to no grudging in the least. This displays how the community was able to overcome hardship, by any means necessary, by coming together and bringing unity into the community. This directly supports the theme of this selection.…

Once inside, stacks of torpedoes ready to be sent to U-boats engulf me. After I set the timer on the torpedoes, I make my way to the underground hanger. I can’t believe that I got the opportunity to take this trip, but now in my opinion this is probably not a good idea because this raggedy old carrier plane probably could never make it across the ocean. If it wasn’t for this plane having a small, dirty, and old jeep sitting in it collecting dust for what seemed to be years maybe it would not seem so terrifying. However all the money I had saved went into this horrifying plane ride, and my “room” on this island of dreams. After take off it was hours until I felt some major turbulence and then BANG! The plane’s cargo bay door flew open and started to suck everything in the bay out into the open air.…
