JROTC is a program which sets to give the cadets the essentials to becoming better citizens; it offers the opportunity to be the best person one can be. The raider team is no exception, it's a sport that requires mental and physical strength, it tests a person's capability of handling stress and working with others towards a common goal. I was very nervous but it was time to get focused. We proceeded to do the personal fitness part of the competition and we did great then we did the some of the other events like building the rope bridge and going over the obstacle course. Those went good, our final event was the 5-kilometer team run and this was the event that I was dreading the most. I was worse at running than I was at anything else but it was time to do it my team was relying on me. We started the run and we were doing great for the first half then we started to get tired but we were still ahead of many schools so we had a chance at getting in the top 5. That's all I wanted at the time to be at least in the top five because I believed that would show me as a good leader. The longer we ran the more my body wanted to stop but I kept pushing. I heard the grunts and moans of my teammates but I told them to get over the pain and to keep moving. We were so close to the finish line I could see it but I could also see a team catching up to us so I looked back and told my team to sprint it. So we did we were at the finish line we had finished we had been the 5th team to finish and I couldn't be prouder until the Army sergeant said “Disqualified” I asked him why and he said “because your whole team didn't finish the race. I looked back and two of my teammates did not sprint the had stopped because it was too much. I
