Personal Narrative: The Puppy That Changed My Life

Improved Essays
Summer two-thousand-fifteen, my family had the idea to help a dog rescue called Mostly Muttz by fostering a puppy. Ashley, the puppy we would foster, came to my house and she was the most lovable, funny, and well behaved puppy I have ever seen. I, being a responsible, caring person, was the most excited. My mother, helpful and loving, brought her out of the car. The entire family felt incredibly happy and optimistic. We learned to love Ashley and were blue at the thought she could be taken from our family. Little did I know, this puppy would change my life forever.

When my mother pulled in the driveway, a wave of excitement came over me. I ran out to her to see the petite, orange, puppy she was getting out of her car. I was then informed that the orange puppy was named Ashley. I put the green towel Ashley was sitting in our house with the other dogs so they would

I responded sure, however, did not want to know because I assumed she would be leaving us either way. My mother replied with nowhere. I was perplexed at this answer and soon realized, our family adopted Ashley! Ashley seemed to have an enormous smile on her face and her tail looked like it was wagging one-hundred miles per hour. Everyone was ecstatic. In the dog rescue, she would now be known as a foster failure.

For the next couple days, our family discussed new names for Ashley. Finally, we decided on the name Nyla. My mother and I went to the pet store to buy new toys, a collar, and a name tag put on the collar. As we went to check out, I heard a young girl bellow about getting toys for her dog, Charlie. At the last minute, I suggested the name and we agreed that my mother and I liked that name better. We were very excited and everything was cheerful. My family started to help at the rescue even more and often held events for adoptable dogs to come and be seen. This taught me a moral that would change my

Discussion Reply to Our Scars Written by Rianna Crocker Most of my scars have been obtained through playing childhood games, sports, or unexpected awful encounters with vicious animals. How awful it must have been to have a scar on your face, a place that is inescapable from daily view, that reminds you of the death of your beloved friend and the grieving process that resulted in that scar. I too know what it is to lose such a precious friend at such a young age and the pain that grew inside. I must have been the tender age of four when the family cocker spaniel had a litter of puppies; two to be exact.…

Just checking in to see how your dog duties are coming along. I hope Emma is healing and that Diesel hasn’t eaten anyone yet. Our Foster dog almost died, was diagnosed with either/both leukemia and a stomach blockage of some sort, and then made a full recovery. We had a chance to have him put down, but I decided to give him more time and brought him home from the hospital with a prescription for Prednisone, which was expected to extend his life by maybe another 6 weeks. He’s in his third week now and, other than the shaved legs and belly, seems perfectly normal.…

I hear the loud, rough sound of the door opening, as I enter my soft, green house. Today at school had simply been horrific. My alarm hadn’t gone off this morning and everyone was in such a glorious mood when I arrived to the all too familiar building (note the sarcasm). Suddenly I hear the all too familiar jingle of the tags on my dog, buddy’s, collar. Setting down my black and white bag with a sigh, I trudge to the back of the house where he is.…

Moving barns wasn’t exactly ideal for me, especially considering that the one we were moving from was only 12 minutes from my house and the new one was 30 minutes. I didn’t really want to move because there was beautiful scenery , with a pond to walk around that was surrounded by grass for Izzy to eat. Even though the barn was always quiet we had issues when people were there. We only had few people there who were nice to us and the rest were mean and ugly with what they said and what they did. They seemed to judge us on whatever we did and it made me feel uncomfortable and awkward that my family even decided to go there in the first place.…

We all thought that huskies would be a perfect pet until they were going through pictures of puppies being sold on the internet when all of the sudden they landed on a picture of some English bulldogs being sold. We opened up the picture and BAM just like that without hesitation we knew this was the dog we were going to get.…
