Great Essays
I remember the moment my mom told me we were moving to another town. I was only about 6 or 7 when it happened so I was rather excited when I heard the news. When I heard the news we were moving to Spearfish, South Dakota, which I had never heard of, I was wondering what kind of place it was. I am from the small town of Wall, South Dakota which unless you’re talking about a village, is pretty small. When I heard the news I wondered what kind of place a town called Spearfish might look like. Like I said unless you’re talking about a village, anything was bigger than Wall. The day had finally arrived. We had all of our things packed and we were headed west! I can’t remember the excitement I had. All of the possibilities, and opportunities …show more content…
They had one daughter, Ite (Face), who was the most beautiful of all the human beings inside Maka. A spirit, Tate (Wind) fell in love with Ite and a great feast was held upon their marriage. Tate and Ite eventually had four sons, (Wiyohpeyata, Waziyata, Iwiyohiyanpata & Itokaga) which would become the Four Winds/Directions, known collectively as Tatuyetopa. These four winds govern the four directions of the universe. The Pte Oyate continued to live by the teachings of Tunkashila (Grandfather/Creator) and they lived in peace.
One day, Iktomi, spider, the great trickster, desired to play a huge trick on the Pte Oyate, as well as the spirits. To do this, he employed the help of Wazi, Wakanka and Ite. Iktomi told Wazi and Wakanka that he would give them special powers over the Pte Oyate if they helped him with his plan. Wazi and Wakanka agreed to help iktomi. Iktomi also told Ite that she would be made even more beautiful and she also agreed to help. And it was so--Wazi and Wakanka became more powerful and Ite became more beautiful. However, Ite also became vain-–more devoted to her own beauty and less devoted to her husband and

My experiences over the last six years living in NYC have shaped me into the approachable and compassionate person I am today. I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

I was born in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania. This would definitely fall under the umbrella of "small town" as it's reported population during the 2010 census was 1,700. I was never an observant child, as I was always playing video games, reading books, or doing some grade school homework.
