As I was handed a blue gown, I couldn't stop thinking of what the doctors could find. Suddenly, the my phone goes off ringing and buzzing. It’s my boyfriend, Kyle. Summarizing the long paragraph filled with curiosity, he was wondering how was doing and if there was anything he could do. Kyle was the first person I had ever told about the pain. He had been with me ever since the beginning of the incident. The door opens slowly, with my heart skipping a beat in suspense. It was the doctor. He walks in with curiosity running through his mind. The doctor walks toward me ready to ask me what is occurring. The doctor then says, “Okay, so what is going on?”
I pointed to where the pain was. He then puts his hand on my stomach, beneath

All of a sudden, one of the nurses sticks a needle in my arm. There it goes. She is taking my blood, ounce by ounce. Then there it is again another needle. At that time, this particular needle would not be coming out for a while and was going to hurt much worse. The IV. It was the first time ever for me to get one, though in the end it wasn't my last. Having my arm lay straight, unable to move for hours with fluids running through my veins. The pain is still there. As I figured out the more pain there was, the more tests they would run. Eventually, after being knocked out from the medicine the pain was gone. The nurse from the school was gone. There to the left of the bed was my grandmother. As usual, there she was on her phone, by the window, on Facebook. She was addicted. I didn't let her see that I was awake. Outside of the window I then saw my mother. Smoking away like a cigarette is one chip after another. That was my family, social media and messed up, addicting habits you could never treat because the people I come from are too stubborn to listen to anyone. Minutes after my awaking, the doctor walked in. He …show more content…
The nurses moved me out of the emergency room and took me to a hospital room. Kyle went home around four in the morning to finally get some sleep. Day by day, test by test. The pain on some days were bearable, while some were not. My grandmother stayed with me at the hospital everyday. On other days, my mother would go home and come back because she can’t sleep in hospitals. Kyle came everyday before and after school. My friends Ann Leigh and Bhakti from band came one day, while one day a really close friend of mine came, Carlos. I stayed in the hospital for almost a week. My grandmother and mother took me to my dads house and from then on he took care of me. I was on bed rest for a couple of days after the hospital. I eventually went back to school and everything was okay due to how I was

Everyone has experienced some sort of atrocious pain in their lives. At one point in my life I did not believe I will ever walk again. A troubling life changing event occurred when I was just fourteen years old. Every evil thought was occurring in my head all at once. “You won’t walk anymore”, “You won’t heal”, “Time can’t change this”, all thoughts that were going through my mind while being in a wheelchair.…

Optimism On that dark day, I was writing in my diary after I had received the heartbreaking news from the doctor: “Your second surgery did not go as well as we expected. Unfortunately, you have to stay one more week.” The struggle manifested itself as pain in my leg and vacuums puncturing my skin. As if the pain wasn’t hard enough, most poignant was the struggle of being alone. There would be times where major dehydration kicked in, and remained until I could find someone to bring me water.…

John glared at the doctor and while wiping the tears away from his glazed eyes shouted, “Why you! You take me away from my home town and they tell me you know how to help me and fix me. There ain’t nothing wrong with me, I just need to go back home!” The doctor stared at the man intently as he layed on the chaise lounge, marking every movement and flinch he made.…

Some people think that the only way to get rid of their anger is to throw it in someone else’s face, but that isn’t always the best option. Sometimes things get out of hand and they can’t be taken back after that. I can tell you right now that no matter how much of a problem you have with someone, it is not worth going to the extremes for. Sometimes a small argument with another girl can turn into a court case. I would know from experience.…

I often find it absurd how many search for a definition of character, when in the realm of things it’s each individual’s job to define it. Therefore, I often like to compare one’s identity to a house. You see, the memories we have are the foundation, the wisdom we acquire makes up the house, and our passions give the house character. Likewise, you can never stop improving a house, just as you are never really finished reinventing yourself as a person either. Thus, the affair that helped me “build my house,” and construct my identity, was when I witnessed my father’s journey through entailing a major heart surgery.…

Putting your loved ones in danger is one of the most selfish and terrifying things that you can do. Whether intentional or not, it is still a scary situation for yourself and the person who could potentially be harmed. If harm is inflicted, the feeling of guilt is inevitable. That gut-wrenching feeling is stuck inside of you, even when everyone tells you that it will be okay. I experienced this about 6 years ago when I was in fourth grade.…

Trying to comfort him like he would a child, Roy let Joanne explain to the nurse what was taking place. “You just hit your head and a few other places, that’s why you are in pain,” Roy said slowly, trying to gauge if Johnny understood him or not. Okay?” “‘K,” Johnny replied, grasping onto Joanne’s hand as tight as he could.…

I wanted nothing at all to get in my way.…

Upon arriving home, my mom tried to feed me my favorite cereal, and when my stomach threw it right back at her, she knew it was go time. She called to her friend, “Angie, I need a wheelchair now!” She wheeled me down to the lobby, where a taxi was waiting to transport us to the Arnold Palmer Orlando Children’s Hospital, one of the best in the country. I was zoomed in to the Emergency Room, where everyone else was put on the back burner to ensure that I would receive the medical attention I so desperately needed. Completely unresponsive and almost unconscious, I was checked into the room in which I subsequently spent…
