Personal Narrative: The Oldest Item

Decent Essays
The oldest item I have in my refrigerator has to be a container of sliced turkey. It's been there a little less than a month. It's almost completely full, but I feel bad throwing it away because it is a waste. It is definitely not good. The next oldest item would be a bag of spinach which is super wilted. It's only been in the fridge for a week. The third item would be milk, but I bought that a few days ago. In the freezer I only have one thing and that ice-cream. It has been there since I moved in which was back in September. Yuck. I still eat from it though. The spinach, the turkey, and I am going to assume the ice-cream are all much overdue.
I used to work at Burger King, and as best they try, there is a lot of cross contamination. Chicken

Through the years, I have moved to almost 3 culturally different countries, my experiences have been nothing less of hectic. From changing to country to country to school to school. I have be-friended people from all around the world and have managed to gather a few bits and pieces from each of their cultures. It is so fascinating finding out about traditions around the world. To strive in a multi-cultural atmosphere would obviously be tough, but I have thankfully done it more than once.…

Different moments of our lives change us and shape us into the man or woman whom one day we will become. One moment that changed me was when I got my first instrument. Getting my first instrument was exciting, yet challenging at the same time. When I told my mom that I wanted to start playing music, I didn’t realize how hard it can truly be. I didn’t think of how much patience and time I would need to put into my practicing.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

The freezer is always full of the old and new meats. (It seems like all the food markets will be closing tomorrow.) It is always hard for me to find a way to put a small bag of bacon into the freezer; I have to arrange everything in the freezer to find the appropriate small space for a mere bag. After two or three days, I sometimes cannot find the bag, and it turns out that the day before that, my great-aunt put the bacon in the Walmart recycle bag at the bottom of the freezer to save more space for her new meats. This would be better if she told me before I started Sherlock-Holmes searching for…

All three of these aspects seem to jump out when specifically focusing on only that when attending to a grocery store. As expected all of their fresh food, fruits and veggies, were right in the front of the store when walking in. This gives the entire atmosphere a feeling of a healthy, clean, nice store. Next were the meats. And in this case, it is not the packaged meat that you don’t know how long it has been sitting there.…

The norm may not always be the right way to go. I no longer want to be a part of a popular or important group of people, if I feel that what the group is doing or believes in is wrong, even if it means I'm not a part of the norm. I am not afraid to stand out on my own. I have challenged this belief for many years. When I was in elementary school, I was bullied by a group of girls that I hung with, looked up to and idolized.…

When I was a teenager I worked in a donut shop. It so happened that the place was sold to a family and was not a corporately owned. In the hope of saving money, they decided to cut labor and asked the hostess’ to do all the cleaning, including the washrooms. The age I was at cleaning was not my cup of tea, therefore, I made it clear to the owners I will do everything else, but clean the washrooms, as I don’t even do that at home, and my mom wouldn’t even let me. The owner’s reply was, “you people should be used to that kind of work, what do you mean you can’t do it,” and a whole lot of other inappropriate things that I won’t get into.…
