We all start out as that Model T, made of the same materials, but working towards individuality. As we grow, our car remodels; the Model T turns into the Model A, and before we know it, we’re a Ford Flex zooming along the interstate.

Though exteriors evolve, technology improves, and destinations change, all cars maintain a common aspect: our engine. The driving force behind every action, these powerhouses thrust us forward throughout life. But unlike cars, people don't all function on the same fuel; we don't all share the same motivations. As I navigate through high school and find myself coming to the freeway of college, I can't help but ask myself: what makes my engine run? What is my motivation?

Previous experiences remind me of pain or prosperity—the thrill of hitting twenty-five targets straight on the trap range, or the challenge of excelling in a difficult course, the anguish of losing an election, or the wholeness I feel when performing onstage—all moments that taught and toughened, redeemed and reassured. The future is filled with dreams dangling just within reach—delivering the Salutatorian address at our Senior Honors Assembly, taking my final bow in our school musical, being able to call every member of our class by name—all aspirations that propel me forward. These experiences have served me well throughout high school, but they're fleeting. What will thrust me forward when my arsenal of memories runs empty? What will I rely on when I don’t know what’s in store for my

The Model T changed the world at the time and the future now because now we have so many different cars for different purposes. For example. Pickup truck and a mini van. A pickup truck is meant for big items you need to take somewhere and a MiniVan is meant for a bigger family. Some bad improvements that were made to the car were, about a hundred pounds added to the weight of the car, placing an additional burden on the already overworked, 20-bhp Ford engine.…

“Alright now Skin, I need you to be my leadoff here and get a rally going!” I do not respond, because I obviously know how important this one at bat is for the team and for myself. One thing coach loves doing, making sure I know how much I am accountable for. There is no comment to explain to me of how dependent I am on these upcoming moments for the team, so don’t make it any worse. To start off and to have the power to set the tone of the whole inning.…

Model Personal Narrative I found out that my life was about to change and definitely not for the better. My school was closing, and beginning in September, I would be going to P.S. 278. That may not sound so awful, but here’s the thing—that’s where Clarice Sullivan was going to school, and Clarice Sullivan was troubel! Clarice had hounded me for years taunting me about every little thing. It was a little over a year ago that she had moved across town and started going to P.S. 278.…

I sat there in the hard seat of my desk and waited patiently. The scent of Lysol was overwhelmingly powerful in the room, but I knew by the third week it would be overpowered by the smell of musty children and chalk dust. I could not wait for my new teacher to saunter up to me, eyes full of admiration, and give me my paper. I had worked hard on it for nearly two months during the summer prior to this new school year. Looking around the room at my new classmates, it was easy to tell who had done the summer assignments, especially with their conspicuous faces.…

There’s a certain peace that comes from rebellion. Being different has been huge in making me who I am. People perceive me to be a “privileged white boy”. Nothing could be farther from the truth. All that I’ve done and all that I’ve witnessed creates a lifestyle that someone who has lived a sheltered, “privileged” life wouldn’t ever dream of.…

Living in a small Appalachian town in Kentucky, has exposed me to many obstacles I have had to overcome to get where I am today. I am an honor student, a certified nursing assistant, and a Robinson Leader. I am also enrolled as a freshman at Maysville Community and Technical College while still being enrolled at Menifee County High as a senior. I rise to the top of many of my classes although I am usually the youngest. Getting to where I am today was not easy.…
