Though exteriors evolve, technology improves, and destinations change, all cars maintain a common aspect: our engine. Previous experiences remind me of pain or prosperity—the thrill of hitting twenty-five targets straight on the trap range, or the challenge of excelling in a difficult course, the anguish of losing an election, or the wholeness I feel when performing onstage—all moments that taught and toughened, redeemed and reassured.
