Personal Narrative-The Locker Room

The bright light shone on the smooth golden floor of the rowdy gymnasium. I ran towards the hoop dribbling the ball until I shot it into the air. The ball sailed in the air as an orange streak and landed in the basket, hanging there for a split second before falling to the ground with a resounding boom. The gymnasium instantly erupted with cheers. I decided to take a break so I headed towards the locker room. On the way to the locker room I heard footsteps behind me. I whipped around to see the source of the sound, a mean looking teenager. It was clear that he was up to no good. "Hey nerd!" I recalled something I saw in the article: racism toward Asians is treated differently in America than racism toward other ethnic groups. This is a truth all Asian Americans know. While the same racist may hold back terms he sees as off-limits toward other minorities, he will often not hesitate to call an Asian person a chink.
