The Life of Conrad Carter
I was the first Carter to graduate high school in four generations. The Carter family was a wealthy, prominent family in the community that I grew up in, however my parents divorced when I was three and we were not a part of that prominence. We had to hunt if we wanted meat. After high school I went through three distinct phases of my life. These phases’, education, new beginnings and Paige molded who I am and the course that I am on.
My first phase was my education. Many people think education means college this could not be further from the truth. Education is the acquisition of knowledge. I started my education in the United States Navy where I learned electronics. When I was discharged from the Navy I went to college at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa Iowa where I earned and Associates Degree in Robotics and Automated Systems. Over the years this education has opened many doors including my current position as the Engineering Manager at Kilgore Flares Co., LLC.

I started attending Lone star college right after high school, at first, I began with the typical high school graduate state of mind, which was that college was going to be a breeze and that it would all be fun and games; more worried about what was going on in my social life rather than studying the books. Especially since I had no real responsibilities to handle or much life experience. Around my first year of college, I started dating this girl and not long after we conceived our first son. Once this happened, my focus slowly shifted from school to working a full-time job at a welding shop in order to provide for my family. I still tried to attend class but was unable to find the balance between work, school and family and this reflected my grades.…

Free from all the extra attention and scrutiny from teachers, who did all they could to mold the freshman class into proper "Vincentians", I felt as though I could finally relax and have a regular high school career. It was a slow paced year where pressures such as ACT and SAT preparation, applying for colleges, and deciding your career path seemed so far away. I was convinced that If just lived life the way I was supposed to and fulfilled my responsibilities, that it all would just come to me one day.
