Personal Narrative: The Leek Cattle Market Town

Improved Essays
It was the first day of the last week of the summer break, and I couldn’t wait for school to start; I missed my friends. As I sat down to eat my breakfast that morning, my mum surprised me when she said, “Hurry up with your breakfast, because I want you to catch the 9.45 bus into town to get the school uniform order from old Mr. Worthington’s store, and if you don’t dilly dally, you’ll be back before it starts raining cats and dogs again.”
Leek is the closest town to our farm; about 6 miles away. It’s a Market Town, meaning that every Monday, which happened to be that day. Farmers from the surrounding area rose early to load their trailers with the livestock they hoped to sell, and as they headed out to the Leek Cattle Market grounds, where the auction took place, most prayed for a good price.

By the time I came along, a degree of order had retuned to his life, for they were all in school, and much more cooperative to the order our disciplinarian our father demanded. Once more he felt in control of his life and environment. He was more relaxed and even demonstrated some affection towards me. Which I believe was painful for my siblings to watch and caused them to feel jealousy. His business had grown and his plan to buy a farm and take up farming was becoming more of a possibility, however our mum, had become very involved in their current business, and as a consequence my siblings were saddled with the task of caring for their new baby sister, the one who got to sit on dads knee, and who didn’t get anywhere near the number of spankings as they. My very existence interrupted their freedom, causing them ridicule, even rejection by friends and

Since I was born, New York City has been my life, my blood, and bones; I have grown and lived with many different people with different backgrounds. My neighborhoods have shaped me into who I am today, I am flexible and open, like raw clay, enough to be changed and formed. Then there is the Bronx, a borough of New York, where you have to be strong, or you will not survive, a place where all races are together, and everyone is noisy. I live in a community where there are mostly Hispanics, and where there are always car passing by and honking, during the day it is the only sound you can here, and ear-piercing bird calls, but during the night there is always some kind of party, either that or just really loud music. I have grown to get use…

At 5:30 AM, the young, naive, Jenny Drpich is all dressed up finally ready to leave her home and head to her job for the first time. On her way, she grabbed a copy of West Australian newspaper, a leftover of cinnamon bun from last night and a freshly brewed cup of Long Black Arabica. The placidness of her home is unwieldy; the constant sound of the dead air seems remind her of pure elation of her little farmhouse in upper Swan Valley. These reminiscing values seem to ponder in her mind as she heads out of the driveway. It was a heinous drive from her house to the suburb.…

After putting on our bright pink leotards and ballet shoes, which trust me we're not the most fashionable, we went out to the car to wait on Dianna’s mom. I should mention it was still raining as if the earth would flood outside, this made it slightly hard to hear but we ran out to the car anyway. Me, Dianna, and Dalton bolted through the door, sprinting to the car that Dianna had unlocked with the small remote. The cold rain made the humid, hot day not feel as bad as the rest of that summer had been, which was dry and hot. When we got into the car we sat for a bit but then Dianna decided she wanted to turn on the music so she jumps to the front seat of the car.…

When his mother, Sarah, told me that I was going to be an aunt I didn’t think much would change about my family. It was June and I was almost 13 at the time and was standing in the kitchen when my brother and sister-in-law gave me a bag. Inside the bag was a mug that said Aunt Brylie on one side of it. Being 12, it took me a minute to figure out what exactly that meant.…

When observing the McCandless’s authoritarian family dynamic, I found that I was able to make a lot of comparisons with Chris’s relationship with his parents and the relationship I have with my own. For instance, my parents have extremely high expectations of me especially when it comes to academics. Bringing home excellent grades was a strict order that I was expected to follow. My parents also expect me to excel in extracurricular activities. I remember one time entering a karate tournament and ended up not placing in any category.…

For many parents, the birth of a new child brings joy and glee. However for my father, I was a burden made by his late-night illegal activities. West Englewood is an area many people have not heard of - it’s tucked inside the southwest side of Chicago. During the day, the people of Englewood would wake up to the smell and sound of gunshots and burning tyres. Police officers would parade the streets in their well-ironed uniforms and the alleys would be covered with bright and colourful graffiti of sayings and images, which I didn’t understand at the time.…

    Baseball Narrative

We sat on the hot metal of the bleachers outside of the baseball field. The rainy days of Spring were replaced with the sweltering heat of the Summer, and hearing the clink of a baseball hit a bat in the Summer had become a tradition for almost five years. My older brother Dakota had spent those years being bombarded by sweat, mud, and the encouragement of his family, friends, and coaches when the team needed to hit a ball or when he wanted to show off how much better he had gotten since the last season. We were all ready for the season to be over so that we could plan our almost yearly trip to Virginia to visit our Aunt, Uncle, and our almost overwhelming blue-eyed cousins, Liam and Carlile. When the baseball season had come to a happy--or sad--ending, we would plan the trip and be piling into the car within the next week or two, to go on the getaway…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

When someone says the word, “Relationship,” I instantly think of a couple dating. Although that is not wrong, there are different types of relationships such as, voluntary vs. involuntary, sexual vs. platonic, romantic vs. nonromantic, male vs. female, and genetically related vs. nonrelated. The type of relationship that resides the most with me is genetically related vs. nonrelated. This particular type of relationship is who you share your genes with separating biological children from adopted or stepchildren. This influences how you might communicate with another person.…
