It may look like we don’t get treated fairly, but when you get to cook the best food in the whole world it doesn’t matter. I get to eat the food for free as long as I cook it. I am also proud to say that there are only two people who know the secret formula and I am one of them. I am the only chef in the entire Krusty Krab.

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

Utterly tired, I began drifting off, dreaming of the adventures we were soon to face.…

Most people imagine a teacher as someone who is in their late 30’s or older teaching in a classroom. Many lessons are taught in the classroom, but many more lessons are taught outside of the classroom. My cousin Keisha and her daughter, KaLeiah, have been the greatest teachers I ever have had in my life. KaLeiah is a three-year old, a tall, lean, energetic little girl with beautiful light brown skin, just like her mother. She has dark black afro hair, and mix of shades of brown eyes, which has filled me with the will to open my heart and mind to the world.…

During the hike I thought a lot about my summer reading, but sadly it didn't help me face the monster... During July of 2015 I was reading Into Thin Air while driving down south. While there, my family went on a hike that was on a smaller scale of Everest, but still gave me many lessons to take away from it. It was a short but scenic drive from the place we were staying to the long, treacherous trail. My brother and I started walking at a faster pace than our parents so we arrived at the first obstacle before our parents.…
