I still remember the feeling of waking up on christmas morning my 1st grade year. As I rushed to the brightly colored christmas tree I noticed there was a huge rectangular package leaning behind it. Immediately I jumped towards the package in desperation. As I teared its red wrapping paper off i noticed that it was a pair of skis. Right then my Mom walked into the living room and told me that this would be the year that I skied. Naturally being a six year old i didn't appreciate the notion right away because I wanted toys instead. However this changed as soon as it was time to actually go skiing. After we packed up the car we headed straight to Mt. Spokane. The forty five minute car ride felt like an eternity in my mind but when I we finally

At the beginning of my Christmas break, I was sitting by a smoky, hot fire with some hot coco with marshmallows in it with a warm blanket on a cold day. It was on a cool spring night in the middle of May. I was running on a field next to 11 of my teammates and 12 opponents. We were losing the lacrosse game by two points and we had four minutes left in the game. I instinctively made a choice that looked bad on the outside but ultimately… was still a bad choice. It was around 8 o’clock on a thursday night, our girls lacrosse team was playing a normal regulation game against the dreaded high school team from Hempfield.…

Leaving the Midwest to live out in the actual West is something I have been longing to do since I was a little girl. In January of last year I went on a trip to Colorado on a "college visit" with a friend and my father to University of Colorado Boulder. We left Wednesday night, skipping school both Thursday and Friday. We did go to the college and took a tour of the campus on Thursday which I greatly enjoyed, it is beautiful out there and at elevation there is very little humidity. The true intention of the trip, as important as the college visit was, was to go to Breckenridge Resort and spend the weekend snowboarding. A couple of my dad's friends were also going and we were going to share their timeshare.…

I once went on a hike on the Appalachian Trail with my mother. We set off and it started to rain on the first day, and my mom began to complain. By the end of the day, I wanted to jump off the mountain before I pushed her off it. Suffice to say, we were not well-suited hiking partners, due to our different processes; my mother dealt with her grievances by talking about the cold. On the other hand, I was just as miserable, but I attempted to ignore the dismal weather.…
