Personal Narrative: The Joy Of Fly

The illustration that really caught my eye was when the fly is responds to the spider “Oh no, no, for I’ve often heard it said, they never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!” This specific picture really spoke volume to me on many occasions. The illustration shows the fly looking over at the spider’s bed and there is a group of ghost bugs holding a book called “The joy of cooking bugs.” The fly is aware of the spider’s misleading words because she is constantly proving to him that she isn’t a fool. Although she is aware of the spider’s tactics the fly still gets eaten by the spider. If I were a parent I would explain to my child the importance of knowing your surroundings. This poem teaches children to not be foolish and naïve. The

Twenty-two years ago on January 4th, 1994, Taryn Staley was up at Finny Cumberlane to celebrate Gary’s, Taryn’s brother, fifteenth birthday. It was her mom, her step dad, her friend (Amy), Gary, her mom’s friend, four or five of Gary’s friends, and herself who traveled up the Finny Cumberlane mountain side. Their day was spent playing in the snow and snowboarding on the small, snow-capped mountain, but the day took a turn for the worse on their way home. “At 10:00 AM everyone met at our house in Burlington with their snowboarding gear, extra clothes, etc. We also loaded up a camp stove, pans, cups, cocoa and a pot of chile with freetos dip chips for lunch.…

We sat down in the corner and talked more while we ate. Soon, a friend that I made, Skylar, had to return to a hotel that her dad was staying in since she wasn’t allowed to camp that night. Her dad came to the corner to pick her up and unexpectedly handed me a full pizza pie for everyone to share while Skylar was gone. The night went on, and the musical artist named Drake was playing a show at The Garden that evening.…

I believe that the motto “Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon,” is a perfect motto to describe myself as both a person and student. Growing up, I always took pride of my hometown (Vermilion, Ohio). My hometown, paired with the rollercoaster of experiences I endured throughout middle school and high school, made me who I am today. Granted, there were hard times and struggles, but I would not be where I am today had I not grown from those experiences. As I stated in my application, I represented my school and hometown at the 2013 Buckeye Boys Convention.…

Sit back, buckle up, and get ready to scream because I love roller coasters. My family and I go to Cedar Point about every month in the summer, and my dad and I go and ride everything in the park. It is just so fun! The one thing I really like about roller coasters is that there are little rides for the youth kids also. My least favorite thing is when I am not tall enough to enjoy a ride, which doesn’t really occur anymore.…

When there were gloomy days, I felt like broken glass that was scattered all over the ground and I wouldn’t be fixable. So I thought if I joined a sport, I would then, have no choice but to believe that I can do more and accomplish more, and be better than whom I was! When I was little I loved to run…

My life hasn’t been saturated with failures, although there have been a few failures where I knew I had to change things for the better. One specific failure actually made me think throughout the trip I was in during the time of the failure. When I went to Outward Bound in Maine in the summer of 2016, I thought I made one of the most risky decisions of my life. One of the biggest worries I had on applying for Outward Bound is that, I’ve never gone hiking and canoeing for more than a week, and I personally thought it was going to be a big challenge to do all those strenuous activities for twenty one straight days.…

I received a class date starting after the first of the year, and when Christmas break came, we headed west to get an apartment rented. The first half, contact portion, of flight school was in Mineral Wells, Texas. The trip was an experience as they were just beginning to build the interstate highway system. As we traveled through Mississippi and Louisiana, the roads were just two lanes (one each way) with steep banks and a swamp on each side of the road. There were numerous insignificant towns and unique scenery, but as we passed through Fort Worth, the trees ended, making us sad that we would be spending the next several months in a barren environment.…
