After growing up and moving away, I realized my comments were untrue. As a child I never truly looked.
Forty years have passed since those Sunday drives. there is so much to take in that it borders on 'sensory overload." . My love and appreciation for "The Jewel of the Coast" can now only be described as reverence. There is so much to see, feel, hear, and inhale. Many people believe that Eastern Oregon is void of beauty. The mountains are bare and the air is dry. However, if these folks would follow me to the Snake River for a fishing trip, I think they’d change their minds. If they were to join me on the river, they’d hear the sound of motor boats traveling up the water, and they’d smell the engine exhaust and hear the laughter of the fishermen.…

This photo was used in assignment 9: Independent Project- landscape. Nearing an end to my landscape project, I was looking back through my photos that I had already taken and found four strong ones but could not find a fifth (five was the required number of photos) to my liking. My goal was to keep consistence with where the images were taken and at the time I was on vacation in Florida. The photo itself was taken at Disney Springs outlet mall, on our last day in Orlando. taken as complete accident, my family and I were walking back to the car from dinner and we came across this beautiful view of the surrounding lake with the setting sun in the background.…

“A leader has to watch every word he or she says and quickly learns that you can’t go through life without a few critics, some well deserved” (pg. 5), this quote as some of the beginning words from MacDonald truly shows that a leader has responsibilities to uphold to. I found it interesting that he showed these responsibilities are not only external, but internal as well. Many do not realize the internal battles that leaders in ministry go through, and in order for leaders to handle a situation in a mature manner; they must uphold to the responsibilities of character they are expected to maintain. There are many internal and external expectations of leaders that are specified in Building Below the Waterline, but only some really stood out to me as factors that I would practice more than others in my leadership positions.…

In the first few weeks of my father’s senior year in high school he was called into the principal’s office and he was told, “Mr. Bragdon, if you don’t start showing up for school I am going to expel you.” See at the time, dad’s single mother of four was struggling to pay the bills, which meant he needed to do whatever he could to supply the family with an additional income. So he went lobstering. In response to the principal, the very next day dad walked into his office and set down on his desk a stack of books and his check from that week. He then looked at the principal and said “Sir, I believe I just made more in one week than you will in the next two months.…

The views from afar seem to astonish you, but when you’re standing on the top of a mountain they literally take your breath away. As our car weaved through valleys and forests, up and down mountain sides and through modern towns we realized just how beautiful Colorado really looked. Small modern towns show futuristic lifestyles along with the growth of the state. With the cabin styled ski lodge towns only a few minutes away the versatility of the state shows with every unique building we pass. But the real beauty lies in the nature that surrounds you.…

Moving from Jersey City into a small home at the crossroad of Van Doren Avenue and Kimball Street, my family started their life in Chatham when I was eighteen months old. My parents enrolled me in Chatham United Methodist Church Preschool, and then into Milton Avenue School for Kindergarten. This is where I made friends with people I am still very close with today. Kimball Street was the perfect setting for my early childhood. It was a safe and quiet street where I could explore and play; the neighbors were friendly, everyone watched out for the safety of the children, and the Milton playground was less than a two minute walk away.…

I was born and raised in Southern California and lived in the same town up until I graduated high school. My ancestors are from England and Norway, but on my mother’s side, my great-grandmother was Native American. Both my parents grew up in Southern California and, generally, lived in the same area for most of their lives. Even though my mother was raised in Long Beach, she pronounces certain words strange, such as wash like worsh. Her grandmother came from Minnesota, and I believe that is how she came to speak with an almost accent.…

I once went to a cosplay convention in Washington D.C with my boyfriend at the time and I couldn’t help but take notice of how gorgeous the state’s scenery was. It’s a beautiful place, especially the outskirts of the city. It was a warm august day when we had first arrived, the warm hues of the leaves were vibrant with orange, brown, and reds, the sunset was basking everything in a soft, orange glow, setting a nice, tranquil atmosphere. When we arrived in the inner city of Washington D.C, it was already dark out, the night sky shockingly had a multitude of bright stars, despite all the city lights. I watched mesmerized as we drove by monuments, giant buildings, businesses and fancy hotels.…
