Personal Narrative: The Invisible Hole

“So, how are you handling everything?” Mom questioned, “You know, with the move and all? You seem to spend a lot more time in your room.”
“Mom! I’m Okay, you don’t have to worry about me. Nothing held me down to Oregon anyway. I’m just getting used to the, uh, new situation. I’m happy. Really.” I explained.
“OK, whatever you say. I just want you to know you can tell me anything. You know that right?”
“Yep! Thanks.” Things have been different since we moved to Greenland. The cold, foreign land gives me just about nothing to do, but I’ll get used to it. Summer break started, so I have the whole day to do things and explore, which scares me the most about the whole situation.
I’m a loner and always have been. I don’t need friends to entertain

In an odd, unknown accent she replied, “I can tell you are part human, how did you come upon the Invisible Hole?”
I was still groggy, but I explained, ”Uh, well, I saw a bird and didn’t realize the hole was in front of me until it was too late. Can you please tell me where I am?”
“You are in The Elven World. This is the realm of Elves, I’m afraid you aren’t safe here. The trolls broke through the Royal Elfish door and we are under their rule. How they did it? It is unknown.”
“Wait, what? Elves, Elfish door? Troll ruling? What!?”
“You are the Daughter of King Arderf, king of the Elven World. We elves are able to sense your royal elf decent.”
“No, I’m Rose… from Oregon.” I spat out.
“No, the trolls broke in here right after your birth, they want all of the royal family. That is why your father put you into the human world. He was captured shortly after, along with the rest of the royals.”
“So, uh, where is he now?”
“Nobody knows, people say they killed him and others say he is still imprisoned-- we aren’t told anything.” She explained, “It may be destined, your return, because you, the last free royal are the only one able to get the key and lock the Royal Elfish door and banish out the

My name is King Arderf-- your father. I’m so sorry I had to leave you both, but I want you to know that it was completely for your safety.”
“Oh…Uh… I--” I began, but was cut off.
“You! No talking!” A troll screeched through the bars.
After the troll stomped away, King Arderf whispered, “We need to find a way to escape, after they discover they finally captured you-- they will kill us all.”
I had a crazy idea; I’ve been taking karate since I was 4 years old. It just came naturally, now I realize it was my Elven blood.
I took a bobbing pin from my hair and moved it inside the key hole in the hand cuffs that imprisoned my aching hands until I heard the click that told me it worked. My hands were free.
“Hey troll! Come here loser!” I hollered. In no time the troll was marching over and unlocking my cell (probably to whip me or something), but when he unlocked the cell I jumped in the air and kicked his face through the cell bars. He tumbled over, obviously knocked out. I snatched the keys from his belt then rolled him into the cell I was in. I turned the key in the lock and slipped it in my pocket. I ran over to King Arderfs cell and unlocked the door; he reached out and padded my shoulder. While stepping in front of each of the other cell doors, I unlocked all the other elven
