The Ink Drinker Continued...

I rushed back to the bookstore feeling excited about my new hunger for books. I went straight to my hiding place, sat down, and began to wonder about what to do next. “Should I tell someone?” I thought to myself. I decided to just wait until the next morning and go back to the graveyard to see if I could find Draculink and ask him about my newly developed book issue. Besides, it was getting really cold and dark outside anyways. All I could think about was getting my hands on another book. When my Dad called out “Toby are you ready?” I replied back to him,“Yeah, just one second.” I snuck around the cash register into the back aisle where the bookstore keeps the smaller children's books. “I'm only going to get

The book was named “The Vacation.” I tried to stop myself, but I just couldn't. The book was calling my name and I couldn't resist. I eagerly took the book into my hands and grabbed a straw from my hot chocolate. I laid the book down flat in my two hands and put the straw right into the crease of the pages. I took a big huge slurp through the straw and sucked all of the words right off of the page. The book was so delicious, the way the ink melted in my mouth like chocolate was the best part. I got an image in my mind after about the story like I was actually a part of the story. It was then when I realized I now had an …show more content…
While I was in the cabinet they had found a few more books to sip on. I could tell I had created monsters. They were now addicted just like me. I never wanted that to happen, and I felt so bad for what I had done to my friends. I took the bottle into my hand and looked at it thoroughly. It was small and purple with a little tube like an eyedropper would have. It had just enough left for 3 more doses and then it would be completely empty. I didn't want to stop drinking books, but I knew I had to now. I slipped the bottle into my jacket and told Hannah and Jeremy that I would be back and that I was going to grab some more books because I knew I would have to trick them into taking the

Go Dogs Go, not only is memorized into my brain, but is sitting on my bookshelf with tape holding the cover on, and the color of the illustrations fading every day, no longer the color they were. On page 5, I can still notice the cheesy, Cheetos fingerprint, even though my mother always told me to wash my hands after I finished eating, and before reading. Not only did I have memories with your book, I had journeys. Every time I listened to the book or as I mumbled, and stuttered, trying each word until I was old enough to fluently read this child’s book. Journeys flooding into my imagination as each word was spoken, or as each dog crossed the page.…

All children’s books are different from their characters and the actions the characters take, to the color and way they are written. Every children’s book is unique, but each one has something similar about them. Each children’s book has a similar lesson that will stick with you for life. Examples of this are The Hungry Thing Returns by Jan Slepian and Ann Seidler and One of Each by MaryAnn Hoberman. These two books although they look very much different, have a secret underlying lesson, ‘Sharing is Caring’.…

Scraping your knee on the sidewalk, getting hit hard with the basketball, falling off the monkey bars, these are just a few examples of ways you can get hurt at school. The worst case scenario is you would end up going to the school nurse as a result of an accident. Before first grade, suffering an injury was way out of the norm for me. The only time I got hurt in first grade, I bypassed the school nurse and went straight to the hospital. It was a scalding August afternoon, and I just finished another tiring day of first grade.…

Over the years, children’s literature has established itself as a vital tool for the exploration, feeling and creativity ideals that both children and young adults depend upon. Children’s literature is a necessity to facilitate learning, assist in shaping reader’s minds, to stimulate their thought processes and is a reflection of social change. Historically, Australian picturebooks were not a readily available or utilised resource. Australian colonial children were also only exposed to British children’s books, which sheltered them from experiencing literature about their own history, nature and landscape.…

Was there ever a time you didn’t like to do something, but as you got older you started to love it more than you did as a child? When I was younger, I never liked to read, but now as I have gotten older, I read more and more different kinds of books and novels. My mother put my sister and me into a reading program in elementary school because our reading levels were lower than they should be. There were no criteria so we read books that were interesting to us, like the Given Tree by Shel Silverstein and Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White. When we finished reading them we would go around and talk about the book we read.…
