Personal Narrative: The Inanity Of Animals

“You don’t mess with bears, man. Bears are crazy.” My friend had used a more serious tone of voice than the tone we’d be using discussing the inanity of certain animals, such as squirrels or rabbits, when discussing his ursine fears. I looked up from the campfire at his suddenly fear-stricken face. I shook my head. “Bears? Are you kidding me? Bears are practically harmless, they pretty much only attack when they’re startled, or really hungry. Besides, bears are mighty scarce around these parts.” I had no idea what he was worried about; before we even hiked down to the small clearing near the lake in our local forest, we checked in with the local hunter’s lodge, getting information about the area near us so that we wouldn’t receive a special surprise from wild …show more content…
We even made sure to shout and stomp loudly to scare any wildlife away as to stay the safest we could. Even so, my friend had been nervous and less active the entire trip. I had thought nothing of his behavior until the conversation about bears came up. I had only seen grizzlies and sun bears in what was a very controlled environment.
