We normally don’t like to hunt humans. As long as they don’t bug us we don’t bug them. But this was the worst winter that we have had in a long time. All of the smaller animals that we would normally eat either died, or they are hibernating. Even with our thick fur we get cold. During the blizzards it gets hard to see even with our great eyesight and keen sense of smell, the blizzard takes any trail of food that we have away from us. There is nothing left for us to eat. We stare at each other for probably 5 minutes before I back out and tell the rest of the pack to not go in there for there is nothing for us there. I go to the front door while the four other wolves that I brought with me go to the windows. I start to claw at the door trying to get it open, the others start to howl, for they smell the food too. It’s so close, yet it seems so distant. Like it’s being handed to me but at the same time taken away. I know that the thing that will keep this pack, my pack alive, is right on the other side of this door. I scratch faster and faster, yet the door won’t budge. I eventually give up and inform the pack that we will come back tonight to try and find the chickens, for the sun is coming up and we don’t want to be

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

The dancing of the snow, the running of the wind, the Earth was so quiet, so very, very quiet, ever since the outbreak. The outbreak caused the death of nearly every individual on the face of the world. I was the last living man who was living in the last place, anyone would want to be- Mt. Everest. A human tendency is to run away from problems, no matter how big or small; in my case, I ran away as soon as possible on a helicopter to a place where I know for a fact that I will be safe; this idea was the only reason why I survived the outbreak. I was isolated from the rest of the world, and it was just me, myself, and I.…
