The reality of the United States has struck me down, strangled me with its malfeasance. Two years ago, I arrived to the United States with a soul full of hope. I dreamt of the States as a place of freedom, of happiness yet still retains its integrity and humanity. But the reality of the Great America bursted my fantasy bubbles. Fortunately, the media of this country has proved me otherwise, stated that the Great America is still worthy, still growing stronger through unexpectable disasters.

An outstanding example for this is the story of Cecil the lion back in August, 2015. The killing of this satellite-tracked lion had caused an outcry among social media users and other media platforms like radios, newspaper and news broadcasts. In July 2nd, 2015, Cecil had been killed by a Minnesotan dentist on his hunting trip to Zimbabwe. But the story did not end there like other illegal poaching incidents in Africa, Cecil’s tale then been broadcasted by many TV channels including National Graphic and then on talk-shows, late-night shows and TV news. This anomaly took all of the attention from people around the globe. Simultaneously, the story passed on hand by hand through social media creating an uproar among media community. According to a study of Cecil: A Moment or a Movement? Analysis of Media Coverage of the Death of a Lion, Panthera leo by David W. Macdonald, the story of Cecil was said to be :
“The attention given to the Cecil story was immense, reaching 99,000 reports per day in the social and editorial media combined (nearly 1000 per day mentioning WildCRU). Strong feelings were clear in the content of social media postings. And in the non-digital world, protests took place outside Mr. Palmer’s ( the “killer” ) dental surgery”
