Personal Narrative: The Hillsborough Middle School Girls Lacrosse Team

The Hillsborough Middle School Girls Lacrosse Team had an exceptional season, finishing with a strong record of 11-5. They managed to score a whopping 147 goals, and 19 out of the 22 players contributed to that miraculous number. Although the team suffered a tough loss during the semi-finals in a close game against Montgomery, they each blossomed as not only players but people. Tessa Norfleet, one of the team's three captains, shared her thoughts on the season. She stated, “Though we unfortunately did not win the championship this year, it’s important to see how far our team has come since tryouts. In the beginning almost half our team had either never picked up a stick before, or were very new to the game. Lack of experience was our biggest opponent but by the end of the season girls who had just started paying were getting serious playing time. Also, by the end we …show more content…
For starters, Tessa Norfleet made history when she received not one, but two of the five awards available. She was named the highest goal scorer, putting in a total 42 goals, and Most Valuable Player. Despite leading the team in goals, Tessa was an unselfish player, who also had 13 assists. Emily Fitzgerald was given the honor of Defensive Player Award, for her improvement this year and guiding new players and coaches. The offensive player award went to Elizabeth Wolf, who finished the season with 19 goals and 1 assist. Lastly, Payton Altman was given the Coach's Award for her leadership, positive attitude and excellence in the classroom. There were also numerous individuals who were named as Student Athletes of The Month, for their greatness on the field, and in school. These athletes were, Jen Koval, Megan Wilke, Kya Rischer, and Allison Watson. Congratulations to all the players who were given the honor of receiving an award this
